Hello peeps, my family and I are travelling to orlando on december 23 for 2 weeks. It's me, my wife and four kids, two under the age of 3, the youngest will be 1 year at time of travel.

Need some advice on the type of car to hire, that will fit our stuff from the airport and a car that is comfortable to drive around with kids.

Also is there anything that you guys can recommend for us to enjoy over the xmas period being that xmas is not really celebrated in america.

Waiting for all the good advice.

Christmas is celebrated in America.

The Magic Kingdom is a real "treat" all dressed up with Christmas Decorations etc.

Lots of the Shopping Malls have wonderful decorations too and there are Childrens Play areas there too with a Christmas theme.

Hi Wayne,

What on earth gave you the idea Christmas isn't celebrated in America?!!! It is big time
:D

It is absolutely the best time to be there and for about a month before and after. If you Google on Christmas in Orlando you will get some great ideas.

The Parks are all dressed for the season and have special events on but away from the Parks there is loads to do.

Ice at Gaylord Palms Hotel is our favourite, along with wondering at their fantastically decorated 12 acre atrium and enjoying the entertainment provided.

The fabulous million dollar plus homes at Celebration are worth driving round to see, as homeowners are required to decorate for every holiday ( Their Halloween decorations are brilliant). It also 'snows' there 3 times nightly throughout the holiday season.

The Malls also have the most amazing decorations. Mall at Millenia is our favourite with the largest Christmas tree I've ever seen!!

Your problem will be, so much to see and so little time to see it [msnwink]

have a brilliant time.

Here are a few photos. The first 3 are Mall at Millennia, the rest are ICE.

Wayne

Will you be using the hire car seats or taking your own. how many car seats will you be using as well as any booster seats, this will probably effect the care you are able to hire, obviously an economy car will not suit your needs. but you could be ok with a full size, rather than going for the 4x4 or passnger van. Roger will have a better idea if you e-mail your needs, he will let you know.

Christmas "Humbug" in the USA , no way. I have actually visited Orlando now 6 years on the trot this will be my 7th year, and I much prefer the fesitivities in Orlando than back here in the UK.

Thanks Lynne. Here's one just for you. I didn't include it before as it's slightly out of focus!

My personal favorite orlando christmas event is at seaworld. They just started the whole "Polar Express" in the wild artic. They changed the ride, and all of the scenery. They now have northern lights, christmas trees, and santa! They also have an amazing shamu christmas show at night. I truely loved it. Throughout the day they also have christmas carolers and others. It is very down to earth. It is my favorite, i think it is better than the magic kingdom.

Check out the Florida Car Hire Link at the top of the page, this should give you some idea of what is on offer.

We have had a 7 seater before which has loads of room but there was only 4 of us.
