Would recommend Cherry Pocket to anyone on the edge of Lake Wales down the US27 past Haines City, turn at the sign for Lake Wales keep going and watch for the Cherry Pocket signs. I know it is about a 40 min drive from Kissimmee but well worth it for an eating experience with a difference.
Cherry Pocket is a local restaurant and serves great food, loads of fish on the menu along with steaks, chicken and for the most adventurous you can even try "gator" personally I found it a little like fishy chicken and a bit chewy, but my husband thoroughly enjoyed it and would have it again.
This is not the most luxurious of places, no glass windows just mesh and the loo is over the walkway outside, but it is clean and the food is delicious. First night tried the fillet steak and it just melted and the second time went for the sirloin equally as good, friends went for fish both times and said just how fresh it tasted.
Music outside on a Friday and a Saturday night.

Well worth the drive.

Thanks Val.

It's always good to have a new place that's recommended to try out on our next visit.
Will definitely put this on our things to do for November.

Wow, that sounds fabulous! Its great to hear of a different place to try, especially if it isn't one of the major chains.

Will definitely give it a go in August.

Thanks, Val

Right!! I'm going to hold you to that.[beer][drinkbeer]
Thought I'd put a couple of drinking smilies on, although, as you know, I'm no drinker!!!

Sounds good. Would like to give it a try but can you tell us what it's like price wise? With 5 of us we always need to think about the cost too[msneek]

This is on the list for our next visit . Ido like trying the ones which are not part of a chain.
I like the little cafe in Lake Wales. I think its called Stuart's It's nothing special and I would not recommend a special journey to go but we like the feel of being locals which it gives.

Replying to Sammibabe, the prices are good my fillet steak which was enormous was probably the most expensive item on the menu and was about $19, so not mega bucks.
