View Full Version : Manchester Airport T3
Hi All
I am flying out from Terminal 3 in Manchester Airport. From memory, it is around the corner from T1, so no problem before departure, but Airside, what shops/eating areas and lounges are there please

It is around the corner from T1 and you don't always know when you leave 1 and enter 3.
Airside it has a central food/drink area with high airport prices. There's a good sized Duty Free shop, foreign exchange and a few of the usual airport shops including Dixons, WH Smith and a luggage store. Unless you want to spend a few hours shopping, I'd describe it as "adequate".
BA has the Terraces Lounge which overlooks the main terminal lounge area. It used to go all the way around but last year BA gave about 1 third of the area over to Flybe. It's 1 of my favourite lounges but entry is restricted to Business/First passengers or high tier Elites from One World airlines. You can't pay to get in. BMI also has a lounge which is similarly restrictive on entry. It's fine but I don't think it's as good as the Terraces.
Thanks - covered every question perfectly there!! Flying business with BMI so it looks like the BMI lounge.
Many thanks

You're very welcome!
The BMI lounge is slightly off the main airside lounge area near the BMI gate(s). It's not widely known that there are actually 2 security entry points to T3. The best for you is the small desk just the T1 side of the BMI check-in desks (although you should get a Fast Pass at check-in anyway if you're travelling Business).
You won't get any time to "enjoy" the facilities. The queues through security ensure you just have enough time to hop breathlessly onto the plane before they close the gate.

I flew out of T3 earlier this week and discovered that it's no longer possible to walk through from T1 to T3 (or vice versa) anymore because they've closed the walkway.
It won't be a problem for most people but if you arrive by train, you now have to catch a bus or walk around the outside (across the roads and kerbs!). It's not clear why they've taken this action but it seems that it's a permanent move.

When we flew PE with Virgin we were told to go through the security entrance which has a sign over the door BY INVITATION ONLY wouldn't someone travelling buisness class also have this little pleasure?

Took us 10 mins to get through security 6 weeks ago and we managed to get into the BMI lounge. If you do get into the lounge head to the silver/gold members area as they had a much bigger selection of snacks/drinks.
