HI,im not sure about this but i believe you can take your luggage on the monorail with you at MCO instead of putting it on the 2nd baggage conveyer belt to the main terminal.Anyone confirm this or just a rumour.[?]

You can but you can't take luggage carts on the monorail so have to be able to either wheel or carry it all.

Sometime towards the end of last year Berni, we found when we went mid December it made a uge difference not having to wait at the 2nd carousel. As we knew in advance we made sure we could manage our luggage without a cart.

This only applies to direct flights from the UK. All internal flights, your baggage goes straight to the baggage collection carosel's.

We did this for the first time in November, but think it started in mid 2007.

Yes this definately speeds up your way through MCO. Don't forget to sign up to Dollar Express(if you're renting your car through Dollar, that is!!) as this really helps too[msnsmile2]

We arrived on 12th Jan this year and had to put our luggage through the 2nd belt. Relatives arrived a week later 1 lot had to use the belt the others were allowed to take on the monorail!!
Guess it depends on the staff working

You should also be aware that because people are taking luggage on the monorail, there is less room and so you may find you need to wait a little longer for space on the monorail cabin - but it's still less time than waiting for the bags to come off the second luggage carousel.

They have now put in a new escalator from where the bag drop off is and you are directed up there. It takes you straight to the monarail 'platform' so you don't walk through the departures area any more. The train is checked to see if it is empty before they let you board so you don't mix with out bound passengers

Sara you don't have to do it.

I emailed MCO last year, and posted it on here at the time, and they said that it was no longer mandatory to put your luggage on the 2nd belt. All you need to do is walk past the staff.

It's great, just the two of us, carried our bags, straight out of the airport, 5 mins for the car hire.

yes wee too used the new system after the news anounced here, last December.
Of course no trolleys and so long as you can get thew cases up - there is a lift but its very small.
Certainly saved a lot of time being able to walk straight down ro car rentals
