View Full Version : belfast-sanford?
Just wondering if anyone here has flown recently with flyglobespan from belfast - sanford(or even glasgow - sanford)hearing baaaaaad reviews from the past summer. just wondering if anyone has any experiences flying with this company...good and bad comments welcome[msnscared]
I don't know about Belfast but some of my guests were delayed two DAYS on their outward flight from Glasgow with this company in May 2007 so I'm guessing they won't be using them again when they return in June 2008! [msnwink]
Not flown with them myself but based on their reputation within the airline industry I would not even think about using them - sorry[msnsad]
We also had some guests in September who flew from Glasgow with Globespan and lost a day of their holiday as their flight was deferred by a day. Guest told me the airline said it was
down to "operational reasons" and no refund was offered or given for the delay.[msnsad]
[bad language edited out]!!!!!! Lol . Ah well there's not much I can do now its been booked for a month. Can't understand how they got them awards with such bad reviews. If anyone has anymore experiences please do share lol. Good or bad. I'm dreading if there is any hiccups, my dad is not the calmest man.

I flew with flyglobespan from Glasgow last year and the flight was great. In fact it was better than some scheduled flights I've used. I also had guests who flew with them in Ocotber from Glasgow and they also praised them. Every airline has its faults. In fact, I have had more bad experiences for delays and losing days holidays with KLM/Northwest than any other airline.
A GOOD REPORT!! YAY![clap] fingers crossed for my hollerdays then lol
I had two sets of guests use Globespan from Glasgow last year and they were very happy. No idea if they have gone downhill since then, but even the best of airlines can have delays and problems.
Our most beloved BA recently cancelled our return flights without letting us know - it was only due to this brilliant forum that we found out, quite by chance. We would have been pretty upset had we got to the airport and then discovered we had no return flights. As a result we have lost a day of our trip and they never even said sorry - they even wanted to fly us back to another airport and to take an indirect flight instead, leaving us in one place and our car in another - and no compensation for that little problem either.
Hopefully you will be ok, but in the meantime, try not to worry too much.
It is always swings and roundabouts with cancelled flights. even the best have these problems. My brother is in the industry and they do not have a good reputation, however all our guests that have used them have arrived and said the flights were great.
so it looks like its just the luck on the day with the mixture of reports

I suggest that you search for the phrase ETOPS on this website and generally search for Globespan[:O]
Regarding the awards - My wife gave me best Husband of the year award last year and my sons gave me best dad of the year the year before that but then there is a relationship there isn't there. I think that a bit of research will reveal the reasons why and how they won those awards.
Article in both today's Daily Record and Sun about Globespan.
Have a read on the Daily Record website under heading "Scottish News" then "Tourists' Terror As Holiday Jet Plunges 20,000ft" [msnoo]
Glad I wasn't on that flight ![msneek]

Anybody reading that might just be put off I think.[msneek]
I had a similar experience a few years ago On Travel City's service from Sanford. The hour flying out over the Atlantic to dump the fuel was one of the longest of my life. I don't fly TCD anymore!!

I think to be fair it should be stated that the article in the Daily Record was pretty much a work of fiction and bears no resemblance to the facts of the incident. For example the 757 does not have a fuel dump facility and the incident took place @ 4000 feet shortly after take off. 20000ft plunge my A$%. This only goes to show that we should not always believe what we read in the press, good or bad it is often little more than opinion and supposition with a measure of guesswork and bias thrown in.
This does not of course change my opinion of Globespan one little bit and in fact it is just one more incident to add to the list. I am sure that the crew dealt with the situation very well and that there was no real danger, however the PAX would have been frightened and inconvenienced but this episode.

Here is a bit of typical Tabloid writing (won't call what they do as Journolism).
Trans Atlantic Horror as Vacationers Die to get off Plane
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Passangers of TransPond airlines were subjected to a horrific ordeal yesterday as what was supposed to be the end of a beautiful vacation turned into abject terror.
"Even starting out was terrible" said 40 year old E.W. Ponce. "I could see Passengers being thrown back into their seats as the plane accelerated wildly on the runway at barbados"
Pilots wrenched the Boink 888 off the runway into an unsteady wavering climb as they struggled to get the landing gear up in a desperate attempt to get to a height where they would no longer be in danger of hitting the ground immediately.
Mrs W. Tannoy (55) said "It was terrible. We were scared for 8 hours. We were all locked in this metal tube where it was dark and cold. The Crew members wouldnt let anyone out. I saw people reading the Bible. A small child in the row behind me wouldnt stop crying, it was so bored. They even served me red wine with my fish"
The horrible ordeal was however far from over. At the end of the terrible hours of unsteady flying over the ocean where waves could be seen crashing into each other, real hell began.
The aircraft plunged wildly from over 36000 feet down to less than 2000 feet.
"It was gut-wrenching", said Mr F. Pukey (80) who was travelling with his Wife and his Son, who had his own wife and three year old baby with him. "We could see the surface of the ocean get closer and closer, We all held hands, and my wife tried to comfort the baby"
The plane full of holiday makers smashed into the Runway at Gatwick, and although luckily noone was injured, all passengers were seriously shocked.
"I could see the runway rush by at a terrific rate" said Mr Pukey "I could feel the wheels thump down. I saw other Passengers grip theis seats armrests in terror. I could see the back of the engines actually move, i thought they were about to fall off"
The aircraft careerd down the runway as the pilots desperately reversed the engines in an attempt to stop the plane in time. The plane was then forced to leave the runway by a taxiway and thread its way to the terminal where the relieved passengers were finally allowed to get off.
"Ill never fly again" said Mrs E. Fearsomm "They should be ashamed of themselves. When we were down, I saw these People just stand around the Plane as if nothing had happened. They all wore uniform, but they didnt help us."
Staff from TransPond airlines refused to comment on this terrible Event. Secret sources report however, that the Pilot of the catastrophe-plane was overheard to comment to other crew members "Huh? what reporter, What flight? That Flight? Nothing happened on that flight."
Clearly the Airline and Pilots have no interest whatsoever in what passengers had to go through on this shocking journey.
I should apply for a job as reporter..

Unfortunately that part of it is perfectly believable!
