I voted no but have to admit I've not tried it since visiting California as a teenager and absolutely hating the root beer I tried. It put me off so much I've never wanted to try it again.
I suspect it's one of those things like Marmite - you either love it or you hate it.

I love it and have found a supply of IBC root beer in the UK. If anyone goes near a R&W fast food place, try the root beer on tap, it is super (in the can it is not so good).

Probably not up to the standard of IBC root beer but Asda sell their own root beer in packs of 6 cans, its good enough when you need a good fix of it back here[msnwink]

I'm in the yes brigade, but it has to be the diet version - full sugar is just too much of a hit!
I love it!! Always have it when we are in the States! Newver here - it's not the same.
Never tried it, but have to say i have been put off it by the comments.

Our son in law is American but has lived in the UK for many years. He just LOVES root beer but says that there is nothing like the real thing, which you can't get over here!
Each trip we have to bring him a few bottles of A & W - which he savours by rationing himself to make it last to our next trip! (Luckily we do go quite often!)
I think root beer is like marmite - most Brits love marmite and Americans hate it - root beer the reverse! It's what you grow up on!

I've voted "don't know" because I've never tried it but I suspect I would fall into the yes category because I love the spice drop sweets that you can get from Wal Mart or Publix and one of them tastes of Wintergreen (germolene) yum! They are the only sweets that I bring back that I get chance to eat.

Yuk I hate it. The one and only time I tried it was when we went to the Catskill mountains about 17 years ago and I can feel that Germolene taste still.

You can buy it from americansodas.co we always have IBC which is the best, the sell A & W and bargs too.

I first tried root beer in Florida twenty years ago it was disgusting.I thought I would try again about three years ago.Guess what still wasn't for me, in fact I thought second time around it tasted more vile than the first.Will not being trying root beer ever again that's for sure.

Its yugh for me too, although my daughter tends to like it, but she a a suger freek.
I think it smells and tastes like bubblegum.
I love Root Beer and I also like Dandelion and Burdock. Funnily enough I bought some Germlolene not too long ago and I don't think it smells the same as it used to, it's not as strong and not nearly as pink.

Only just found this poll as we were away at Christmas but no I hate it and think Jan's comments sum it up very well. I also remember my 'dear' son giving me a jelly bean because 'you will like this one Mum' which was disgusting and turned out to be root beer.
I love Root Bear is one of the first things I buy when I go to the supermarket when I arrived in Florida.
I used to be able to buy it in England in our local supermarket once the stock had depleted they didn't order any more[msnsad]
If I've been REALLY good, my wife buys me an Australian root beer (can't recall the name as am allegic to shopping) in a dumpy glass bottle with a ringpull cap.
Actually tastes better than the US varieties !!!
& yes, I love original root & ginger beers...
