View Full Version : The Weather
Hi - I last visited in September and the weather was 90 degrees but bearable and I found it no problem at all. I think next year we will have to go in July/August time to coincide with granddaughter's school holidays. My daughter is worried she won't be able to stand the heat and I wondered what everybody thought. I know it is the humidity that is a problem but everywhere is air conditioned. Is it really so over crowded at the parks and is it too hot to be outside? It is ideal to go early or late in the year but with school children not always possible.
Be grateful for any tips

Although the summer holidays are usually very hot and humid, we went at the end of August this year and found the weather very bearable (and it actually felt slightly cooler than when we went at the end of April). Can you do the May or October holidays as these are usually lovely times to go weather wise and you don't get quite so stung by flight prices?
I'm not sure about the parks as we steered clear of them in August!
We were there in July/August this year and are going the same time next year. It is Hot and
very humid, As hot as it was we found that if you kept moving it wasnt that bad. Only once
did we have a problem and thats when we sat down and after a few minutes started to feel all
hot and sweaty.
What we found is that we had the odd thunderstorm and that really cooled the air down
We love it warm anyway, As you say everywhere has Air con which is great, and the parks are
very open and there was always a breeze. We didnt find the parks that busy apart from Magic
Kingdom, which was heaving.
We usually go in the summer. It is hot, particularly in the parks, what we aimed to do before we came out so frequently was 2 days of parks, 1 day at the villa.
I would say just try and pace yourself, allow for some sitting down time - or go early and come back to the villa for the afternoon, relax and swim and return re-charged for the evening entertainment.
Like Fiona says it is hot in the summer - our last 2 visits have been in August and I must say that prior to these visits we used to visit every May and I was expecting a dramatic difference but didn't notice any as I always thought it was hot in May too!!! The only thing that is different in August is the daily 10 minute storm!! Pace yourself - as you probably always do when you visit Florida.
This last Summer ( July and August) was quite wet here. I am a resident now and before have only seem it in one or two weeks snatches but this year have been able to get a perspective. Lots of thunderstorms and some more intense and longer rain storms than is usual ( ie not just the usual 10 mins and then it brightens up) I remember flooding in Celebration on a couple of occasions. It is not an ideal time to go ( my least favourite time of the year, what with the humidity, rain and mossies, plus busy at the parks!!) but if it is necessary to fit in with school holidays, then needs must. I have been there, done that, bought the tee shirt also in my time. Went to the Far East in the monsoon season once because of the school holidays. Now that WAS rainy!! We ddint leave our hotel for days.
We always try to go around the Easter break. Most days in the mid 80's, This year we had 3 weeks at this time, and it only rained once. Really really pleseant. We were unsure about pool heating when booking, but very glad we did.
