The Christmas markets arrived in Manchester this week so we went for a look see last night to soak up the atmosphere, the smell of lovely mulled wine and cooked sausages[msntongue]and it was beautiful and so festive, not quite as good as being in Germany with the snow etc but pretty good in my view[msnsmile2]

Nice pictures Julie, thanks for sharing them. I just love anything to do with Christmas.

I went to this last year and you are right they don't compare (plus everything is twice the price) but it is better than nowt.

I will be able to compare them for myself next week[msnsmile2]

I went to this market in Manchester last year (one of my offices is just around the corner) and it was really lovely, thanks for the photos - I'm hoping to get there myself (Manchester) next week.

Lovely photos, the cabins reminded me of last year when we visited the Bath Christmas market. We did not have snow but it was a very cold biting wind.
Next year we would like to visit one of the European markets but we are not sure which country to pick first.

How do you get to this market, and when exactly is it on? I would like to go there next weekend, but I don't know Manchester very well. Is it the sort of place to bring kids and teenagers?

Thanks

Nuala

I love the one in Birmingham. If it is dark and cold and with the smell of the food and gluwein you can almost feel as though you are at the real thing. They also have an outdoor ice rink in Birmingham, easier for us to get to than Manchester.

We went around the German Market the night after you Julie. Had a lovely hot raspberry mulled wine and I love their chocolate coated fruit on sticks. It was very busy couldn't get to see much on the stalls for the crowds.
