You may already know this so I apologise if you do. At Orlando International Airport (MCO) you used to have to put your cases on a belt directly after going through immigration and then pick them up in the terminal building. This is no longer the case, if you have cases with wheels you can take them on the monorail with you.

Wow, that is worth knowing, and certainly makes sense. We got our luggage the first time after 5 minutes but waited nearly an hour for the second baggage reclaim!

We fly into MCO in Feb and this will be a great advantage to us as we arrive quite late. Thanks for the info.

I put mine through last month as I couldn't be bothered wheeling it (bad back), it was there when I went to collect it, flew PE so this helps but it's good to know you can take it with you if you want to.

It's definitely the case (sorry!) - I walked through with my case when I was over last month and saved a lot of trouble as I then went straight to the car rental desk when I arrived at the main terminal.

well that is really good news. WE are over again 1st Dec. I reckon it might saveabout an hour!
wonder why the change now?

BTW (unless its on another thread) what are the extra rail lines going in to the MCO on the left for?

Well in that case[msnembarrased] I will take luggage with me this time as I was thinking of taking hand luggage only and buying a suitcase out there to avoid the wait. They wouldn't let us when we were there in June, but the case was just arriving after we had hired the car

Great news and we may take advantage of this when we fly out on 1 December.

Although, for the first time ever, we were going to take just hand luggage (my husband has been laughing ever since I mnentioned this to him!) to avoid the hassle of the two reclaims.

I'm still tempted to do it just to show my husband that I can be that disciplined when I'm packing ('cos I'll just buy anything extra I need when I'm out there [msnsmile2])

Is there any limit on the size of case/bag you can take on the monorail? We have wheelie bags rather than cases and one of them is pretty long.

Thanks!

It seems when I went through MCO a few weeks ago that if you had just the one case you could take it through but they seemed to be asking families with children to put their cases on the 2nd belt.

But it has been under construction for a while and in July seemed to be finished, leading into the Main Terminal

Maybe it's gonna be an additional monorail then?

The reason you had to do this in the past was you were mixing with out going passengers in a 'sterile' security area. Now we don't do this, then I suppose it is considered safe. We have been doing this in Tampa for years now.

It would appear its for anyone, this is the reply I got to my email.

Thank you for contacting Orlando International Airport.

Correct! Returning your baggage to the baggage belt to have it transferred to the Main Terminal is now optional. Rolling bags and those small enough to carry may now be kept with you.

Enjoy your stay!

That is of course for those using Terminal B.

Those using Terminal A(which has no immigration/customs facilities and is used for indirect flights from UK on some airlines)

still have the same procedure i.e. shuttle to main airport and pick up baggage there.

I assume the Disney rail link will serve both terminals?

On your web site you say at one point

International Only: After clearing Customs, place your baggage on the baggage belt and it will be transported to the Main Terminal.
Proceed up the escalator to the Departures Level (Level 3) where you will pass through the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security checkpoint before entering the hub of the Airside Terminal.

I understand that this may have changed?

Reports mention that if you have a wheeled case you can now take your baggage direct onto the train to the main terminal, and not have to place it on the baggage belt.

Can you confirm this is now correct please?

Regards

dirfect onto the platfrom for the shuttle train, fantastic. Then straight down to the car rentals.

Now....... if only they could sort out the security screening on the way back. I kn ow itrs essential but so much hastle,
