Hello All,

Haven't been around for a little while, due to house moves and illness, so it's nice to be back!

OH and I want to get married in Orlando at end of April, beginning of May. We plan to take around 20 family and close friends, staying in villas. We don't want anything too fancy, I'm not the type to be wearing a white dress and wandering down the aisle! We were looking at having a [u]very casual </u> beach style wedding, in a relaxed atmosphere.

I have used the search facilities and quite a few of the links have the bride and groom suited and booted to the max, which I suppose you would if you were promoting somewhere!!!

So any help thoughts you may have would be great. Love to hear any suggestions.

Once again it's great to be back! [8D]

There is a little white CHAPEL on the hwy 192 and you can book on line also you do not need to have a white gown and it is just big enough for your size of party .
Have a lovely wedding

Hi Issy,

I can't think of many nicer places to get married than Orlando.

As you mention a "beach style" wedding It would need to be a man made beach as Orlando is in Central Florida and around an hour or two drive from coastal beaches, but assuming that you mean an informal wedding there are many small companies in Orlando and Kissimmee who will be able to help you arrange everything (or if the budget will stretch to it, Disney themselves can oblige with a truly fabulous "fairytale" style wedding at their Grand Floridian wedding chapel overlooking the lake and castle at the Magic Kingdom).

If , however you wish to put the whole thing together yourself there are small wedding chapels on Highway 192 (near Walmart/ Medievil Times) and in Kissimmee Town and Orlando for the service, dozens of limo companies, most of the hotels can arrange a reception, Publix do wedding cakes.

One important thing to bear in mind is the timescale for the wedding license (which you would need to obtain from either the Kissimmee or Orlando courthouse). I'm pretty certain that this needs to be applied for at least 3 days before the wedding itself, so depending on the amount of time you have in Orlando, it would be adviseable to apply for the license
as soon as possible after your arrival.

I hope that you do decide to go for a wedding in Orlando. I'm sure it will be a fabulous occasion to remember.

We got married at Cypress Gardens in 2001 (although I am not sure whether they still hold weddings there) and my sister in law got married at Magnolia Acres in 2004.

Both were traditional weddings in that we wore wedding dresses etc but that was our choice and we could just have easily dressed other wise.

We both used the services of a wedding co-ordinator who arranged everything from flowers to photos to cake to limo.

Here is a photo of us at Cypress Gardens and one of Hazel and Simon at Magnolia Acres

We have also seen couples getting married at sunset on the beach at Clearwater which looks lovely.

I am sure you will have a brilliant time whatever you decide.

Hi Benny,

We're actually getting married in Orlando at the end of April next year (how strange!!). We went through an excellent UK company called White Sands Weddings who are really professional and offer really good tailor made packages. We trawelled through dozens of sites and found them to be the best. They use all the popualr areas in Orlando and coastal settings of Florida. We also found that most other sites offer the same areas but White Sands just seem to be that more personal, easy-going and helpful!

If you Google "White Sands Weddings" you will find them at the top or PM me and I'll send you the link.

We have chosen to get married at the Beuna Vista Resort near Downtown Disney. We too are taking around the same number of guests. We've been planning this for a year so if you need any tips or pointers - give us an email. We'd love to help!

Has the little white chapel been rebuilt? When I was over in January, it looked as though it had not been rebuilt since being blown away by the Hurricanes a couple of years ago

We got married at Regal Palms on Valentines day in 2006 :D We did contemplate getting married at Bahama Bay as it is a fantastic resort that has its own beach and does beach weddings as well! If you want any information give me a DM, we organised it all from the UK but used a US wedding planner who was very good and i booked Rev. Tim Herring who is one of the Disney vicars who i believe others on here have used as well. He is very good and i can wholeheartedly recommend him :D

Hi Noreen,

If you mean the one near Walmart/ Medievil Times on the 192 it's certainly still there (and looking very smart)....we passed it every day earlier this month.[msnsmile2]

Friends of our got married in The Little White Chapel on the 192 only two weeks ago, he said they had a lovely ceremony and I know he planned it all on line beforehand and all he had to do was go to the courthouse on arrival and collect his licence.
Have a great wedding
Val

Thank you all so much for your ideas. Kev I realised we would need a man made beach! The villa option looks a good idea. And we would need a couple of villa's that were near to one another anyhow, so I presume those on the links above would know of villa's in close proximinty?

Alan and Jude the photo's of you and your sisters' wedding are lovely, looks like you had a wonderful time.

Pudders, are you staying in villas or hotel? Looks like we're leaving it a little last minute if you've been planning for a year!!!! [:O]

Hi all

Well we are now finally on the road to organising this wedding. Sadly my mother passed away suddenly at the end of November, and everything had taken a back seat, but now feel if we're gonna do it we've got to get stuck in.

Anyhow, Flights seem to be sorted; and I have a put in a villa request with the link to Orlando villas above, for two villas close to one another. Do I also have to put in separate requests to the four listed up there? or does the one request go to all the above? It's just they have the same layout etc. and wondered if they were linked?

Next a location for the wedding......!

Sorry to hear about your Mother. The 4 sites above are all separate so you would have to send an enquiry to each of them.

One thing to note, someone mentioned getting married on Valentines day.

If you considered that, then bear in mind the flowers (if you want any) would be considerably more expensive due to Valentines day driving up the cost of flowers.

Again if you plan it anytime during May then you would be best to avoid mothers day week, as again the prices go way up.

Sorry to hear about your mother Benny and its understandable that things have got held up.

We know someone who married on the beach at Lake Louisa about 10 mins from hway 27 above the 192. They organised it all in 10 days from decision.

The good thing is that unlike the UK where the venue has to be licensed, in Florida it is the Celebrant who holds the license and can perform the ceremony wherever you like.

You can fill in the license application online before you arrive and just thenhave to present yourselves for official identification etc to collect the license. I think it is still the same and for non Florida residents there is no waiting period.

The wedding can be as casual or elaborate as you want and helps to cover all budgets. Many of the communities have lakes which make nice backdrops for the ceremony.

From Limo to nails, I'm sure if give us a list of what you may need there will someone who knows of a recommended person, and at least you can get an idea of whats available.
