Well, I treated myself a few weeks ago to the box set of the whole seven seasons of The West Wing.

I never saw it when it was on TV, but someone I know said I would like it.....I do.....so much that it is taking over my life.....[msnoo]

There is 144 episodes on 42 dvd's and I end up spending every spare moment glued to it....[msneek][msneek]

I intend to go to bed but then I think, just one more episode, they only last 45 mins..... what's another three quarters of an hour...and then I end up taking it to bed with me for one last one before lights out. My wife is just as hooked.

Now I always look tired,[stupid1] can't sleep straight because I am replaying the story lines in my sleep and find myself wanting to be an MP or better still President of the USA.[msnwink][msnwink]

Has anyone else suffered so, and is there any cure or do I just have to tough it out until I have watched them all?[msnsad]

Please help...off to start season 4[msnscared]

26-10-2007, 01:13
Yes me and there is no cure [msnsmile2] I did the same thing back in July and I have just started season 7, but guess what when its finished I have decided to watch it all again[msneek]

Its fabulous!!![clap][clap][clap]

I'm with both of you on this one. I've watched every episode at least three times and I think it's the best TV series ever. I was absolutely gobsmacked and heartbroken when it finished.

I didn't watch it until the penultimate series, on the basis that I just wasn't interested in any TV programme at all, but what an idiot I was!

I watched one programme on my brother's recommendation and rushed out the next day to buy all the previous ones on DVD. I sat up every night until about 3 a.m. (once to 5) until I had been through the lot.

I'm absolutely gutted that there are no more and really can't understand why such an intelligent, witty programme needed to end. Toby is my hero.

It is, in my opinion, the ultimate TV drama series and I can't imagine it being surpassed in the near future.

Having said that, it's nice to get some sleep now.

Tonish its so easy to want to watch quite a few episodes every night, my DH is fed up with me hogging the cinema but he bought me all the DVD's[msnwink][msnwink][msnwink] I am now on disc 2 season 7 and I so desperately don't want it to end[msncry][msncry][msncry] I love CJ and Josh too[msnsmile]

We are the same with 24!! We always say we will watch just one episode and end up watching 3 or 4! We are now up to date having just watched season 6. Can't wait for season 7.

I here is my next problem, whilst I am exhausted from lack of sleep, I too have found the writing so amazing and the cast so believable, I can't imagine what it will be like when I have finished all of the seasons.[msncry][msncry]

I can't remember the last time I watched something on "TV". There is nothing on during the week that captures my imagination.

Anyone out there who has not seen this, you really must it is what a TV is built to show[msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

I brought ours of amazon (they were the best price for the whole box set).

You can also get the first season pretty cheap of ebay from someone who has already watched it, worth seeing if you like it first but......

[msneek][msneek][msneek]BE WARNED YOUR LIFE WILL NO LONGER BE YOUR OWN[msneek][msneek][msneek]

Expect to have symptoms similar to (but not exclusively)

Lack of sleep

Lack of time to do other things with your life

Massive highs and lows shared with the cast ..... and.......

It appears severe depression once you have finshed.

Not wanting to sound dramatic about it or anything
[msnwink][msnwink]

Must go....more to watch[msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

Having watched the whole of West Wing on TV, then all the DVDs, and now watching the re-runs on More 4 I have to agree that yes it does take over your life!

Fantastic series, great cast and wonderful scripts - what more could anybody want. I have 2 favourites which are CJ and Josh.

I've now started to watch Studio 60 on Sunset Strip as well. Again really good and can't believe it has been cancelled after one series in the US.

Crumbs best episode is a tough one!

Either where Donna finds she is temporarily Canadian during the First Lady's birthday party (Series 3?) or one in the last series but I don't want to give away the plot to people who are still watching!

Well I am nearing the end of Season 7[msncry][msncry][msncry] Why oh why have they not made anymore, it's such a tremendous series[clap][clap][clap]

Anyway only 2 more episodes to go, and its fabulous right up to the end so far[clap][clap]

Well I hav been trying to take abreak, but it is just no good, started season 4 last night, first 3 episodes.

[clap][clap][clap]

I have to say that my favourite epsiode so far would also have to be 2 cathedrals, it was a bit corny but it really struck a cord with me, but what a cliff hanger at the end of season 1. If I did not have the box set and could start straight away on season 2 I would have been on the edge!!

Julie, I am not sure how I will cope when I get to the end, although I had heard the last 4 seasons aren't as good as Aaron Sorkin [bowwave] was no longer writing them?

I was told that too but after the first episode or two it seemed to get going and I have to say I have loved Seasons 6 and 7[msnsmile2]

I am off to watch the last 2 episodes of Season 7 tonight [msncry][msncry][msncry][msncry] and then I am going to start all over again[msneek] I know I missed a few episodes of Season 3 when DH put them on my Powerbook and iPod video so I could watch on the plane, I got confused about which I had watched and which I hadn't and ended up missing a couple[msnembarrased] I can't actually remember Season 1 so it will be good to watch it all again[msnwink]

I think that Season 4 does take a bit of a dip in quality but stick with it as it gets going again and Seasons 6 & 7 are fab!

Well,

What with one thing and another we had not got round to watching much West Wing recently and so we picked up season 4 at about episode 19 last night. What a bombshell at the end of the season, I did not see that coming (not going to say what so as not to ruin it for those of you who have not seen it yet) and it really knocked me for 6.

Now I am back again addicted, could not stop watching to the end of the season and I am about to start season 5 tonight.

It just gets better and better.......

30-11-2007, 23:45
Fraser you are doing well, I have just started Season 2 for the second time[msnwink]

It was a bit of a shock at the end of 4[msnoo]

FraserLynn
19-12-2007, 01:50
So, I found the start of season 5 a bit slow and it took me a while to get into it, I was a bit worried that it was starting to loose its appeal, but then....

what a great season, no stopping straight into season 6 and I am now just 2 episodes off the end of season 6.

But this is when it gets scary.....soon I'll be on the final season.[msncry][msncry]

I have to say, this really is amazing television, the quality of the writing, the depth of the characters, the balance in the opinions. You just hope that in real life there really are politicians like that out there really wanting to do the right thing no mater how difficult.

It would have been so easy to cop out and have given the characters more "breaks", but I think the way they continue to be optimistic despite everything is what makes this programme so inspirational.[clap]

Oh well, enough for tonight, back to it tomorrow evening.

I really can't recommend this enough, if you have not seen it, give it a go

FraserLynn
29-12-2007, 02:47
[msncry][msncry]well that's it, I have just finished the last episode of season 7[msncry][msncry]

No more will the west wing be a part of my life but wow what a great final season.

Nail bitting, [clap]gripping,[clap] moving,[clap] clever,[clap] funny, [clap]fast paced [clap]and just plain fantastic.[clap]

Not sure I'll ever watch them again though, it was just too good an experience to repeat and there as so many other things still to do.[msntongue][msntongue]

Have never watched The West Wing but after reading this thread I have just ordered Series 1 from Amazon for £14.98 which is excellent value. I can't wait to receive it after all your rave reviews!

They also do the full set Series 1-7 for £89.97 but it was out of stock at the moment.

30-12-2007, 21:42
Linda you will not be disappointed[msnwink]
