The science center is actually a science museum. You might think 'who would want to go to a science museum when you can go to Disney', but this is Orlando, so this science museum is FUN!!!! Geared up to appeal older children with many interactive hands-on exhibits, it reminds me of Eureka, the childrens museum in the UK, but for a slightly older age group. In a multi-storey modern building centred around an atrium, there are exhibits on physics and engineering, nature, space and the body ( the latter is the most fun) as well as travelling exhibits ( the science of Star Trek when we visited). One floor is given over to an IMAX cinema showing films such as the Living Seas and the Blue Planet. You can buy a combi ticket which covers the museum plus one Imax film. It is only a few dollars and even cheaper if you can find a money off voucher ( you often see them in the voucher books) Good cafe and gift shop.
A good place to go on a rainy day when you are 'malled out'. Located just off 1-4 in the area north of Downtown Orlando but south of Winter Park. It is next to the Florida Hospital which is well signposted. Visit Loch Haven Park whilst you are in that locality also.
