View Full Version : who does the packing and planning
when it comes to going on holiday
i am responsible for the planning and packing in this house and i wouldn't have it any other way
husbands main job is to ask really ridiculous questions at the last minute and to set sky plus for the footie, cricket, rugby til the planners full[msneek]
Me, I do all the planning and most of the packing, DH does do his own clothes[msneek]
Ilove doing all the planning leading up to going.
Thats what I have been doing lately, getting ready for Aug/Sept 08.[clap]

If I ask Mr CDV for input he'll say I'll do whatever you want to do and if there is anything I strongly don't want to do I shall tell you! So I plan away with feverish passion!
We do our own packing but I always slip a few things into his case when I get the chance! If we're travelling from different countries to the house we do our own travel arrangements.
Both share otherwise my golf clubs would get left behind. Also a travel golf bag gives you plenty of room without needing two suitcases.

It's mainly left to me (son of the house), with some help from my mum.
I am responsible for the planning, making sure everything is booked / paid for on time, the washing, ironing and packing for the whole house. Hubby says his job is making the money to go and driving whilst there, lol.
Good planning makes for a troublefree holiday and that is what us women are good at !!
Mostly the wife but I do my own, in about 15 minutes I hasten to add.
I do the planning, but having 3 teenage girls they do their own packing. Geoff packs his own clothes but I do the general packing (all the odds and sods like toiletries etc).
Geoff pays for it all:D:D

I am the organiser in our house. We would never get away if I left it to my husband.

I organise everything, my he does his own packing. and the kids do, although /i do have a rumage through to make sure that certain things have not got slipped in that shouldn't be.
Although I rely on hubby at last minute to ask, do you have that, that, that and don't forget that. One year I forgot to bring the house keys. [msncry]

I always "Plan" to go to Florida, I always "Plan" the packing. The wallet "these days pays for it", and then he "Plans" how to make it all MORE difficult than it needs to be [stupid2] Bless!

I do everything the flights, car hire and park tickets. I constantly remind Bruce the date we fly
The one thing he does the night before we travel is bring the luggage down the stairs
Then on the way to the airport he bombards me with questions have Iremembered this and that which I find quite annoying, but Bruce has his uses he works non-stop when we arrive getting our homes back in tip top order. I guess its swings and roundabouts :D
We share it[msnwink][msnwink][msnwink]
I do all the planning/booking/organising etc I also pack all the clothes etc but leave all the techno stuff to DH he does laptops/cameras/video cam/wires/plugs etc[msnsmile2][msnsmile2][msnsmile2]
Oh and Yes DH earns all the money to pay for it[msnwink][msnwink][msnwink]

I choose when and where we are going, DH just pays!
I book car hire, car parking etc on his CC[msnwink]
If we are going to florida there is very little to do in the way of packing as we keep most of our stuff there.
If we are holidaying somewhere other than Florida, I do the majority of the packing although I insist he gets his own clothes out for me to pack[msneek] Though even this seems to involve lengthy discussions with me about what to take[msnoo]
The only thing for which I absolve myself of responsibility is the packing of the golf clubs when we are travelling to a non Florida location
[msnwink]
If however it is a business trip he does all his own packing so I don't think he is completely helpless[msnwink]

One of these days Liz, I will do "that girlie trip[msnwink]" bet the whole process will be a breeze[high5]
I usually book the flights but we each pack our own suitcase. Does not take that long as we do it so often[msnwink]

Well no surprises with that result then [msnwink] If I didn't do it all, we wouldn't go away, it is that simple... even if I send him on his own, I do the packing [msnoo]
i wasn't surprised at the result either and another thing that came to light with this poll
us woman are very good at using our other halves credit cards:D:D:D
my husband has two cards and he always seems put out when asked to hand one over at the till, strange considering he hasn't a clue of the balance or how to pay when the statement comes, as long as it's paid and no interest is charged then he couldn't care less so i've never understood his drama and hard done by look at the checkout[msneek]
So its true -all men are the same :D
I do everything, sort out flights, car hire etc, and am chief entertainment manager whilst there, along with carrying on washing ironing and cleaning throughout our "holiday" -althoughI do it quietly so as not to disturb fox soccer channel or whatever :D
Next year, I have booked a few days in LAs Vegas whereI WILL be waited on :) [Yep he can pay for that too :)]

Tony plans the holidays and I do the packing.
Tracy
I plan the holiday, make the bookings make sure all bills are paid etc before we leave and handle packing etc. Stuart makes sure he knows what sporting events are on wherever we are travelling to and then tries to make sure he can get to one[msnmad]
Bill would not know were to start when it comes to booking for Florida and I would hate it if he did. I research the flights and just tell him which is the cheapest and the best dates to travel and he says 'book it then' and that is his total involvement with the planning and booking. He drives us to Gatwick and drives in Florida, that is his contribution.

I love this thread!!![msnsmile2] I do all the packing/organising/booking stuff/sorting kids/parents etc etc etc - Danny just turns up at the appropriate moment. Strange thing is, I don't remember ever volunteering for this role - [msnsmile2][msnwink]!
Im a totally pampered housewife and hubby does everything but pack my suitcase. Never paid a bill in my life or sorted thru any paperwork I just sign there..... but them again he never does any DIY or organise workmen that my job so suppose we role reversal - but it works for us.
