well,as some of you may know we are off to florida in 2 weeks, i called medical special assistance 5 weeks ago and told them that i had a knee replacement and was slow to get leg moving, bit of an infection, would i be able to pre book bulk head seats?
was told to call back and let them know how i was getting on, i called this morning, no i cant pre book a bulkhead seat, i asked about seats i was told about here, rows of two at the back of the plane as there would be room for leg to be stretched out, no cant have them, i would have to either cancel/postpone the holiday or get onto the travel insurance company im with and ask them to upgrade my seat!or buy another seat!!am told by virgin they the travel insurance company should pay for this as i am covered by the insurance, i have taken out insurance as soon as we booked the holiday and paid extra for pre medical screening, of course the travel insurance company tell me they dont do this!!!!
so i may be able to get a bulkhead seat but wont know till we checkin, i have been in floods of tears for the last hour, even on the phone
i have hit a very low point today!!!!!
Really sorry to hear your news Liesa.
Hopefully, when you arrive to check in and explain your problem, Virgin will be more helpful than they appear to have been on the phone.
Try to think positive!
Maybe we'll see you out there as we go next week for two weeks!

thanks Chris, oh dont get me wrong the first lady was nice but the second time i called the lady was even better, infact she was lovely, she could hear me crying, i let it get to me so much!!! but they said the words no one wants to hear "maybe you should cancel"
hopefully see you out there!!
virgin won't prebook a bulkhead Liesa but will put one on request, they cannot guarantee but they are usually very good
we found out we had ours the day before when we did an online check in

Liesa don't worry - I'm sure it'll be fine. I have travelled with Virgin for a long time and a few years ago I was in a wheelchair for a while and flew 3 or 4 times during that time. They would never guarantee the bulkhead seats but I always got them.
I have also travelled with my father, who has Parkinsons, and have always requested a bulkhead seat for him, he has always got one.
It's just their policy not to guarantee it as there are only so many available, but my experience has always been that they will have them.
Hopefully, you will be going to twilight check in, when you do ask them to read the special request on your booking and release the seat for you. If you can see your booking on line 24 hours before, the bulkhead seats are often allocated already.
Try to stop worrying and think about the wonderful time you are going to have.

Assume Virgin have changed their policy, as I had pre-booked bulkhead seats a few years back[msnsad] I was marked down as requiring assistance and was offered a wheelchair to both get on and off the aircraft (was over 5 years ago mind)
Best wishes Liesa, hope you get sorted for the best.
