renewing vows at WDW

Hi,
has anyone used disney's vow renewal package? It is mine and Brizzle's 10 year anniversary in Dec 2008 and we have always talked about renewing our vows in Florida with the children and maybe the extended family if they want to come. I have always dreamed of doing it at disney but it looks like $4000 minimum for the smallest package AND you have to stay a 4 night minimum at a disney resort. I am wondering if it's worth the money or whether to book our own thing like so many people do when getting married. I am not sure whether the budget will stretch to $4000 plus accommodation plus flights ect ect especially when we will soon have 3 children!!!
Suggestions for other ideas welcomed

Hi,
I would love it to be at Disney as I am a fan but it's the cost that's putting me off. $4000 is a lot of money and I wondered if anyone else had done it and could say either way if it was worth the extra $'s. But feel free to suggest other options if you know of other places in Florida that you can renew vows, I have seen places like Leu gardens,Mount Dora and Cypress park mentioned for wedding venues and also the Little White Chapel but I don't know if you can do vow renwals at these places and how you would go about organising it.

Our neighbours got married at their villa, everything from the flowers to the cake!

Their wedding photo's are wonderful.

Especially with the lake in the back ground of some of the shots!

Hi Leisa,
yes indeed, we are awaiting our new arrival any day now (it's a boy). I am currently 38 weeks and the size of a house. Thats why we went to Florida in April - had to get a last minute trip in before I was too fat to fly! So I am trying to distract myself by looking at prices for next year and if we can afford to do the vow renwal thing.

I'd have thought that the square in mount Dora would have been lovely and also was thinking that Silver Springs may be very nice. Another alternative would be to find a beach somewhere? We renewed our vows two years ago in Las Vegas and it was really nice, I think any place geared up for weddings will also definitely be able to provide this service, even if they don't overtly advertise it. Obviously some places may take a wee bit more organising if you are just choosing a location, rather than a definite venue.

Another nice play, don't know if it would be cheaper, is Disney's Vero Beach.

Have you e-mailed them to ask if you have to take the full package including accommodation?

I've been looking further into this, you may find that there is a minimum expenditure of $10,000 for a Disney wedding.
They also do the vow renewal too!

They actually have an interactive wedding planner guide that you can use which adds up the costs for you as you go along.
INCLUDING hotels, reception, entertainment and even characters.

If you go to the main Disney site and search "weddings", it should come up as the first search.

Either way, a wedding is something you only do right once! (Hopefully), so hope everything goes OK.

At the end of the day, its only money! :D:D

thanks for the input. I am currently looking at the Swan & Dolphin as they appear to do both weddings and vow renewals. Because although they are on property they are not Disney owned and run so are a lot cheaper and don't carry any minium spends or accommodation requirements. So I am hoping to be able to get the Diney feel at a much cheaper cost :D I am looking at various methods of booking, don't know whether to e-mail the hotel direct for prices (only weddings on their website, no prices for vow renewals) or to go through a 3rd party - Virgin Weddings offer it and I have also come across other wedding co-ordinator websites on the net but I would rather go with a recommendation than book blind. Has anyone used a company to book everything?

Hi Heidi My son got married in June at cypress gardens. He booked it through [website link edited]. They were really helpful,e mailing us all the time with information and help etc. I know they have weddings at Disney places too. I think they do vow renewing too. I would recommend them. Martine

Mrs MTP used the Swan and Dolphin for their day spa when we were last in Florida. I had been pestering her to have some spa time and we have previously used both the spa at the Grand Floridian and the Canyon Ranch resort in Las Vegas (In Florida they are in the Gaylord Palms).

She found them to be very good, and I guess not quite 100% Disney, but perhaps 95% so, if you know what I mean!

Thanks MTP, I didn't realise there was a Spa at the hotel, that would make a nice additional treat. I have e-mailed them to see if i can get a price for booking a vow renewal direct with them. It is only £629 for the basic package with Virgin weddings BUT you can only book it as an addition to a Virgin holiday (if a flydrive counts as a holiday we may well do that and ditch the car as others have done). Prices with [website edited] range from $1,390 up to $3,050 depending on the package.

They have a gazebo in the gardens of the Lakeside Inn at Mount Dora overlooking the lake. Its a beautiful and picturesque spot for a wedding, and a nice place for any over-flow guests to stay. With the new 192 toll to Apopka, its only 35-40 mins from Disney area. You should find more on google.
