This is a pretty spooky attraction and is OK if you don't mind the dark!

You're in the middle of the transportation of an alien to earth but something terrible goes wrong! The electricity goes wrong and the lights go on and off and then the alien manages to break out of the transportation capsule! Oh, no, where does the alien go? You can let us know when you've done the ride!

I have to say that I think this is one ride that is not worth waiting in any sort of queue for.

I totally agree with you on that one Ruth, from my recollection (didnt go on it the last 3 visits as thought it was not worth it, even without a queue!), the ride was pretty awful, it was new in the mid nineties, and seemed to me like a poor attempt at filling a space.

Is this the one in the same place as the ride that used to simulate going to space - the name escapes me at the moment - big round theatre setting?

If you leave Buzz and go left towards the castle it is on the right hand side. Sorry, I'm not good at directions but I can picture it in my head!

Yes this is the ride that used to simulate going to space! The name escapes me, but the replacement isnt much better!

Such a shame for Disney not to find something useful to put there, think they were trying to make use of the existing structure, and it hasnt really payed off.

Its directly to you left as you walk over the bridge towards tomorrowland.

This is really only a "things that go bump in the night" attraction and is only any use if you have a REALLY vivid imagination as not much happens in reality. What gets me is the queues you see for it! If only they knew!

That's the one I was thinking of. We saw it from outside when we were there last December but didn't get imspired enough to go inside.

This was one of the funniest 'rides' for us as, when we first saw the alien, someone shouted out 'oh no, it's the mother-in-law'. Well, my husband thought it was funny and got a sharp nudge in the ribs on both sides, from me and his mother-in-law!

The old ride was "Mission to Mars", which was indeed the saddest excuse for entertainment in all of DW!

We did Alien Encounter a couple of days ago and have to say it's not one to take easily scared childen on - several crying children had to be led out of the thater during the show.

I enjoyed it - especially the bit where it breathes down your neck :). Don'y think I'll be rushing to take Sarah and the children on it though.

The upside is that the line (OK, the "queue") is usually not very long.

Oh well done, MMFAN - it's a tricky word to spell! We'll soon have everyone on the forum bilingual and speaking Amerish or Britican!

This was one of my favourites at Magic Kingdom.

I was very disappointed with this ride (if it cant be called that)

I'm just glad that I only had 10 minute wait for it or i would have been really peed off.

If you've got a vivid imagination then it'd probably be ok. I was expecting it to jump out in my face or something like that, but all it was, was you heard it running round and breathing on you.

As previous peaople have said, don't bother if the queue is more than 10 mins!

We were one of the first people to go on that ride......young kids were screaming blue murder.....I'd not take a young child on it.....if you have young kids....one parent go on first before taking them on.....

I thought this ride was OK

I liked the alien running around and the hot breath on your neck.
The best bit was when it went dark and the 'engineer' went to see what had happened and got 'gotten' by the alien and was splattered in your face!

I have heard a rumour that this ride is going to be refurbished. It will also be along the lines of Lilo and Stitch.... using some of the old features of alien encounters.

I liked Alien Encounter, about the best thing in WDW - I am not a kid anymore (50).

It will be a shame if it closes because it is pretty scary and well worth the visit.

I heard the bad news about a week ago! NOOOOOO! I'm going to miss it. I'm glad I have pictures standing in front of the place. Sad!

Its probably being changed to make it a bit more kid friendly.

We've lost count of the number of children who come screaming [msncry][msncry] out of Alien Encounter, closely followed by their guilty looking parents trying to console them.

It was a great attraction the first couple of times.....we'll be interested to see the new version...presumabley a bit more comedy than horror !
