We are trying to arrange our next trip (can't wait) and are thinking of doing a week Orlando and a week Gulf Coast.

We are thinking of going Christmas 2008 instead of our usual October but was wondering about the weather. Will it be beach weather at that time of year. Our week on the Gulf Cost will be mainly going to the beach.

Sally,
we have been on the Gulf for the last 3 Xmas's and definitely beach weather. We spent a fabulous day last Christmas on our neighbour's boat visting various beaches around the Rotonda area.I will post some photos later.

We do sometime in orlando and gulf coast in winter have not had any rain and warm to walk on the beach .
Just need a pulover or cardigan for the night ,Not like here no frost .
So do not worry about the weather better than UK in winter .

Will it be warm enough to go in the water and not just walk along. Wondering whether we should save the Gulf Coast for another time of the year.

Sally

I was in Rotonda at the beginning of last December, to be honest
the seawater was too cold for me to swim. The pool, however was fine for swimming as it was heated. Otherwise, balmy weather only chills down a bit in th evening.

Have fun whenever you go.

We have spent 3 Christmas’s in Rotonda and the weather has been beautiful. Some evenings you may need a sweater but we often sit outside until late in the evening without one.

This is a photo I took last year on New Years Eve for the family back home who could not believe we had been swimming in our pool everyday

previous poster is right, the sea is too cold, so make sure you have a place with a pool that is heated.
It's high season at Christmas, but if you can find a beach place that is right on the sand, and you can walk to restaurants and shops and things, it's wonderful. Its the best time of the year, because it is not too hot to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.
If you are coming to pinellas, I will recommend nice places to sit outside and enjoy the water.
