Hi! can anyone please tell me if they have recently flown with Virgin airlines from Glasgow, what the flight was like, the service was like and was the plane itself oldish or newish? Which airport does Virgin fly into? Just getting ready to book for next summer, can't come soon enough!
Thanks in advance[msnsmile2]

Hi Rafia

welcome to the forum

i've never flown with Virgin from Glasgow but twice from Manchester, the overall service with virgin is pretty good being a scheduled airline, seat pitch in economy is 31"

Mach 2 (Julie) has more info on the actual planes and ages etc and i'm sure she'll be along to answer this post soon[msnsmile]

i have dm'd you the website link for virgin atlantic where you can find out what's onboard, movies, food etc, view seat layouts and you can also amend your booking, choose your seats order special meals and check in online

hope this helps [msnsmile]

i queried the glasgow flight with virgin and they said that although they classed the glasgow - orlando flight as a direct flight it actually stops in manchester u.k. to pick up passengers, we declined the booking for this reason.

check though first with virgin as we may have been mis-informed and if so they missed out on a booking.

strange when searching for flights from glasgow to orlando this message comes up

Sorry we are unable to find flights that match your request. This is either due to the fact that there is no availability on this date or because we only fly between Glasgow and Orlando on the following dates

23rd June 07 / 30th June 07 / 07th July 07 / 14th July 07 / 06th Oct 07 / 13th Oct 07

seems like they only fly a limited service from glasgow, no mention of any stop off in manchester

As far as I was aware, this was the first year for the Glasgow flights and they were only trying them on some Saturdays to see how the service was used. Will wait and see what they do for next year.

got back on Sunday and have already booked again for next year! Availability is already limited so if you want one you'd better get going!

REally liked it, good leg room, and IFE system. Meals average and wine not great, it was like a bulk standard house wine, (only 2 drinks given out but you could ask for one or two more). Great flight times, less than 8 hours going and 7 hours on return. Plus the extra baggage allowance (2*23kg per person) and downtown disney check in (we then spent the day at Typhoon Lagoon) swung it for us. The best prices were from Charter Travel. It may be that we could have gone cheaper from England but the internal flight and additional travelling time is not worth the saving in my mind.

You are right Elaine

I wish I did not HAVE to make the 4hrs plus travel to London or Manchester. Charter flights from Cardiff have become less and then only part year. Bristol is nearer but no direct flights

Took a VA from Manchester once, leaving home at 3:30am for a 11:45am flight. NEVER again! half dead by the time we reached Orlando [msneek] Now book an overnight stay.
