Checking with Expedia for a guest and found good prices coming up for Manchester to Tampa or Fort Myers with US Airways. 22/08/07 - onwards for £334 both changing at Philly. Also Continental Manchester to Tampa same dates £338.

£334 for Fort Myers would be a decent fare any time so very good for this time of year.

We live in Durham and Gatwick is no longer a viable option for us as BA pulled the Newcastle-Gatwick service in April/May, a real pity as every time we've used it the flights were full.

So far we've used East Midlands and Manchester instead, EMA wasn't too bad a drive and MAN has the option of a direct train service into the airport from Newcastle, just a pity that the only flights from Newcastle to Orlando are with Monarch with apalling seat pitch :(

Hi Jeff,
We are also from the North East and usually have to fly from Manchester although occasionally there are some decent connections with Martinair / KLM out of Durham Tees Valley changing in Amsterdam. We find this much better for winter flights as the drive home from Manchester can be a nightmare after a long flight and early morning arrival.

Hi Jeanette [msnsmile2] Last time we (myself and my 17yr old autistic son)flew from East Midlands, a couple of hours drive but we did an overnight stay off airport which had car parking and taxi service included for under £90, got a great deal on First Choice Star Class Premiere at £294 each, booked on Sunday, flew on Tuesday!, same flights from Manchester the following Sat were £844!!!.

Hi Jeff
Welcome back, we've missed you. Hope you're keeping well.

Virgin have had some specials come out at about the same price for a direct flight which run for a little longer but I would guess availability is quite restricted now.

Hi Steph, good to be back in the land of the living again [msnsmile2] It's been a rough time since Oct 2005, during our 20th wedding anniversary trip to Florida my wife told me she was leaving when we got back, for a 22yr old lesbian in the Household Cavalry!!. She took my daughter but left the boys with me, splitting the kids apart is the only thing I'll never forgive her for. Things are pretty much back to "normal" and I get my daughter at weekends after school Friday until I drop her off there again on Monday mornings. The "boys" (now 19 & 17!) are still with me, Adam (19) is working part time as a barman having given up college and Jared (17) was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome so can be a bit of a handful, I've spent the last 2 hours persuading him to get changed so I can wash his clothes!. Jared and I managed a trip together in March/April and had a great time, hopefully going back in Oct or Nov-Dec if we can manage it.

It sounds like you've really been through the wringer but it seems like you've at least started to come out the other side smiling and hopefully some r&r will help. My 26 year old nephew was diagnosed a coupe of years ago with Aspergers and is in hospital waiting for a place at a supported living centre so I know a bit of what you'r going through.

Hope you found some more places to share with us on your last trip.

It's taken 20 months of Hell to get here and the stupid thing is I still love her and feel empty without her, it's only looking after the kids which has kept me going, unfortunately I know that if I'm not there for them then she won't be, the new GF comes first every time, Adam has almost no contact with her and Jared has stopped going to stay with her at weekends etc., last time he went she went out with the GF and left him on his own in a strange house for over 8 hours, we had a major row about it and she went and did the same thing the next day!.

Our last trip was very strange, Jared spent most of the time finding places for us to eat, we got very cheap accom. at the Econolodge Polynesian, it was clean and comfortable but the $$ we saved Jared spent on food!. He doesn't socialise at all but by the time we left he was on first name terms with a lot of waitresses!, we ended up dropping off about 8 "thank you" cards and little gifts for them when we left!.

We had a lot of mediocre meals and a couple of bad ones, most consistent for quality were Applebees, Boston Market (for take out) and Arbys for burgers. The only place I wouldn't EVER go back to is the new Cici's Pizza on the 192 just East of N Poinciana Blvd. really horrible pizza and terrible service.

We did quite a lot of mini golf and visited our friends in Spring Hill on the West coast for a couple of days. The only park we visited was Seaworld, I took him on the Predators tour which I'd previously been on with Charlotte, she didn't want to come as she reckoned that because we hadn't crashed every other time she'd flown she had more chance of crashing this time!, not the sort of logic you can argue with! [msnsmile2] She did wish she'd been there when I showed her the video I did of "Beleive" and she's promised to come if we do go again [msnsmile2]

All I can say is it sounds like you are doing a marvellous job of holding the children together which is all you can really do. At the end of the day it's hard enough to try and compete with another man if your wife went off but another woman is obviously a different kettle of fish.
Strange how these things seem to come about. My friends daughter had a baby 3 weeks after her 16th birthday after too much drink and a one night stand, decided she wanted to keep the baby then before she was year old had decided she was gay and in her 4 year old daughters life has now had at least 4 female partners so she obviously still has found what she's looking for, think it's a case of the grass appearing to be greener etc.

My Godson has some strange clothing phobias as went, wont wear green, and they have to feel, smell and be the right shade of whatever colour is in. He won't eat dinner on Sundays, he's now 23 and has been like that since he was about 5, decided he didn't like Sunday dinner so after a few weeks his Mum made him his favourite dinner on Sunday thinking he meant it was Sunday roasts he didnt like, only to faced with , how many times do I have to tell you I dont like Sunday dinner and he hasnt eaten a meal on Sunday since.

Before he was hospitalised my nephew went to the coast with my sister and they went into a shop, only for him to say he needed to come out of the shops after a few minutes. When she tried to find out what was wrong he just said I can't memorise any more barcodes it's doing my head in. The only place she could think that came from was that before his brother had died he was managing to hold down a job at Dixons and either someone had told him as a wind up that he had to memorise them or he just decided it was part of the job.

It's good that Jared did manage to make friends with som of the waitresses though isn't it, at least he will communicate outside the family which my friends son won't.

You'll have to treat them all to a villa next time then at least you can have a supply of food as well. Haven't tried the new Applebees near us yet but do intend to at Christmas.
