Hello ,

One of the visa recommended documents was :

Proof of employment

My dad doesn't have one , he owns a number of buildings
and works on them .

I was wondering is that going to be a problem during
the visa intreview ?

thank you .

They probably want to do want income does he have, which is normally declared on your tax returns if you are not employed directly by another.

If he owns the buildings does he rent them to others, this is an income.

Not quite sure of your application type, but for B1 / B2 those exempt from using the visa waiver program,

They are trying to establish you have either enough funds in in place to cover your trip, (how they do this when you could be made redundant the next day anyway !!)

And also that you have enough social / economic ties in order to return to the UK

Take along some mortgage statements / bank statements with you and everything should be fine

Basically they want to know that your going to be able to pay your way in the US, and not run off and become an alien in their land
