View Full Version : First Time Questions

My partner and I are due to go to Orlando for the first time next Saturday the 16th. Just got a few questions that i'd really appreciate some advice on if anyone can help.

1. My partner will be driving. He only has an old style paper drivers licence rather than the new card type - will this be a problem for the car hire? Also, are any other documents required and will a swipe of a credit card be needed?

2. I have booked a package holiday through a tour operator and have booked a 5 park flexi-ticket with the holiday. I am told we will be given a voucher which will need to be exchanged for the tickets at a kiosk. The voucher hasn't come through yet so I have no details but does anyone know where it is likely I will have to exchange this and the process? Is this quite common as I just expected to get the passes and I thought it sounded a bit dodgey?

3. Trivial thing really but, I was hoping to take a few disposable cameras with me - would it be better to buy disposable cameras over there and also get them developed over there?

I am sure there were other questions but my mind has left me for today so more questions will probably follow soon - thanks!

Hi KerrieB

1 - This won't be a problem and you may need a credit card for swiping at the car rental desk dependant upon the terms of the hire contract/car hire voucher.

2 - Can't help you with this, sorry

3 - Given the exchange rate it may be cheaper to get the cameras over there and it would save on the packing and the cost of developing the photos isn't much cheaper over there, but the photos may be less to pack to bring home. In saying that, for what you pay for a few disposable cameras, you could probably get a basic digital camera which may offer other advantages.

Have a great holiday.

Hi Kerrie,
Welcome
We have, had vouchers before, what you have to do is exchange them for the actual tickets when you get to the park. If they are for Disney there is usually a seperate queue for the exchange of said voucher and if universal I think (can`t remember)you go to the guest relations window.
As for the camera question we always had our pictures developed in Florida (have a digital camera now) anyway it is fun to see your photo`s.

Hubby still has paper licence and never has a problem.
Have a great holiday

I have an old style licence, never been a problem.

Never had vouchers

I would buy a cheap digital camera, as said previously, there are some good deals out there, think they used to do an ok one in superdrug but I am sure there will be lots around, wollies, dixons etc

Hi when we booked a 5 park flexi ticket through a tour operator the voucher came through with our tickets etc,so if you have received your flight tickets and not the vouchers perhaps you should give the tour operator a ring to see where they are.You do go to the guest relations window to exchange them for the park tickets, when we done that we went really early to get it sorted out, otherwise there might be long queues.
We brought a pack of 2 waterproof cameras from walmart,i cant remember the price but they were cheaper than over here, great for getting shots under water and taking round the water parks.

When we went, many years ago, with a certain tour operator whoes names begings with a V we had to go to the welcome meeting to get our vouchers (big con I know).
May be worth ringing up to find out about this.
As the others have said paper driving licence is fine, its all I've ever used.

All your questions have been answered so i won't repeat. The advantage i found in having a "new" style driving licence was that i use it as ID. that's one for the future.
From a time perspective next time i would consider getting your tickets direct
I thought that the cost and speed of processing over there was first class but we take a digital camera because you can then look at the photos that night on your telly-we loved it-if you buy over there try walmart because if anything does go wrong asda will honour the guarantee.
anyway my main point is how envious i am of you going for the first time-savour every minute and don't try to do everything-you can't

We develop ours in Walmart. Its great to see your photos as you go along. They do a 1 hour service so you can put them in - wander about and then collect them at the end. Nice and cheap too!
