Buy anything at the moment in the Duty Free Shop at Gatwick and pay in US$ cash (or US$ travellers cheques) and they will charge you at $1.75 to the pound.

Thus a £20 item costs you $35. You should get up to $39 for £20 if you buy your foreign exchange right.

There is a small advert in World of Whiskies, but I could not see anything at the main dutyfree shop advertising it.But they do it without question.

Anyway I saved a further fiver on 2 bottles of single malt scotch, and that was on top of the £10 off for buying two.

I'm happy.

So if you give them a US$100 Travellers Cheque, for a £10 purchase, will they give you your change in £Sterling @ $1.75 = £1[msnwink]

Why? You don't have to use a $100 TC to pay

Sounds a good deal if you're buying Duty Free anyway.
