As an owner I'm not sure if I should be asking here but I felt this was a question for owners and seasoned guests and that answers could be helpful to both.

A guest who is staying at our villa next week has asked, 'Can you recommend a local restaurant that has several vegetarian options?' We are at Sandy Ridge, so Champions Gate and the 192 are probably about the right area.

All I can think of is the Olive Garden! I know there are several restaurants in the Formossa Gardens area but apart from The Outback and Red Lobster I can't remember what they are. The Outback has a few veggie options on its menu.

We have eaten at the Loop Chillies but not the new one at Champions Gate. From memory I think the only veggie option they had was spaghetti in tomato sauce, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated especially as our veggie daughter will be stying with us later this year!

Thanks

Hi Nina,

As a vegetarian myself I know that not many US restaurants list veggie meals on their menus!! However, with the exception of Red Lobster, everywhere I have eaten has been very good at making me a meat free meal by adapting what they have on the menu. Chillies do a 'no guilt' burger, pizza is easy!, most pasta dishes can be served with a tomato or creamy cheese sauce, omelet, etc.

we had similar problems and struggled with our veggie daughter

for fast food we found that Dennys did a boca burger (like quorn) and IHOP did a make your own omelette which she could have meat free, in the outback there was little choice, i think the childs menu only offered mac n cheese

fish wasn't a probelm for us so my daughter ate quite a bit of fish and the odd veggie burger whenever we ate out during the holiday

in IHOP she gave everyone in the nearby vicinity a lecture about eating meat and how it's cruel, the servers face was a picture[msnembarrased] we're used to her but still if the ground could open up and swallow me then that would have been a good time[msnscared]

We struggled a little with our daughter, not much to pick from.

Most places were very good at letting her have larger starters or a couple of sides instead.

Buffets were the easiest ones as she could pick out what she wanted. She did enjoy a meatless burger at Johnny Rockets but not the one at Ruby Tuesdays[sick]. If I remember rightly Uno's had a few things she could have.

At Champions Gate the French and Italian restaurants both have vegetarian options and so doe s the Italian restaraunt at the Omni. At Formosa Gardens TGF have some options and so does Carrabas.

I only wish I was out there enjoying my meals!

Try Applebees(Berry Town Center).I am sure I saw several veggie options on their menu. You could always go to their website and have a look at the menu. We have been to Villa de Flora at Galylord Palms and our daughter has always been able to have quite a good choice from the buffet.

We're all veggies and it's not a problem as long as you know where to go and where to avoid. Some of our favourites are:

Villa De Flora (Gaylord Palms),
Bahama Breeze (our favourite place to eat at the moment),
Olive Garden,
Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge),
Chilis (a bit limiting now but still do bean burgers instead of a meat one on any of the burgers in the menu),
IHOP (not very healthy but it's got to be done on the first morning).

We avoid any steak place like the plague for obvious reasons.

Boma at Animal Koingdom Lodge has an award for the best Veggie in Orlando!

You do need to book in advance though.

My daughter mentioned when she booked that she is veggie - and when they arrived the chef came out and walked her along the buffet (it's an eat as much as you like) and explained to her exactly what all the veggie options were. She was impressed!

Thanks John for putting this in the correct area. Even now I'm still finding new places on the forums I've not discovered before [msnembarrased].
Thanks too everyone for all the great suggestions. We'll be trying a few ourselves next time we're out. Although we don't eat any meat we do eat fish, so although we don't have too much of a problem we'd really like somewhere with more imaginative veggie options.

Has anyone tried Cafe Tu Tu Tango on I Drive or Sweet Tomatoes, also on I Drive? I've heard they're good for veggies.
