Hi, this is my first post so I hope I am posting in the right area.

We have just booked our 3rd holiday to Florida for April 2008 & have decided to book a villa this time (2 adults, 2 children). I have a couple of questions if anyone can help:

Firstly we have booked our flights & arrive on 3rd April 2008 for 14 nights. I have contacted a few villa sites & many of them are not interested in our booking as we do not arrive on a saturday. Is this true of all owners? Also, I notice that on the sites where prices are available, the price seems to go down on 5th April 2008. Would we be better booking into a hotel until 5th April? Maybe owners can let me know this one.

Secondly, we would like to stay as near to Disney as possible in a 3 bed villa with a pool and preferably on a complex with a communal pool too. Any recommendations?

We would welcome any advice anyone has as the more I look at villas, the more confused I become!! If any owners have availability on 3rd April 2008 for 14 nights, within 10mins of Disney, I would love to hear from you!

Cheers,
worgie

Most owners on the sites associated with this forum will take bookings on any day that you wish to arrive and for any duration of time that you wish, normally subject to a minimum number of nights.

Regarding the pricing of the villas i believe that due to the school holidays being any time between March 20th and the end of April next year you will find that a lot of villas are at peak rate for the entire duration of your stay so booking into a hotel for the first couple of nights would not save you any money. This would probably increas your costs as you are likely to require 2 hotel rooms.

As to the type of facilities you require, put out some enquiries on the sites associated with this forum and list your requirements.

Have fun choosing your villa, but don't take too long as the good ones are already being snapped up for Easter 2008.

I don't know any villa owners on these forums who wouldn't take a mid week booking for next April.
I am certain if you send a general enquiry for a three bedroomed villa to any of these sites you will be spoilt for choice.

If you want to stay on a community with a communal pool then put this in the enquiry notes so villa owners know exactly what you're looking for.

Have great fun making your decision.[msncool]

You only have to go to the sites on here and the villa owners will soon let you know if they do what you want .
Good luck and have a lovely holiday .

Like everybody else says a lot of owners will take bookings starting any day of the week. You probably do need to start looking now though as your dates are near to Easter next year. Mind you, part of the fun is looking at all the lovely villas that are available for you - you will be spoilt for choice!

I have never had a problem, always have a mid week booking. See you have chosen a Thursday, this is usually the day I choose.

Hi Louise, welcome to the forum :D Have fun choosing a villa and don't worry about asking lots of questions. Most the owners on these sites use their homes a lot and have lots of local knowledge. Once you have stayed in a villa, you will never want to stay in a hotel again, the freedom it gives you, with space and catering to name just two. :D

Most of the resorts are within around 15 minutes drive to Walt Disney World anyway. Imagine WDW like a circle and the vacation homes are for the most part, peppered around the circle. Being as close as possible isn't always the best recommendation, but choosing the right home really is. There is nothing more disappointing than choosing somewhere you really don't want to be home in 5 minutes to! This site has a wealth of lovely homes and you really will be spoilt for choice. There will be lots of owners who will be extremely happy to accept your booking but bear in mind that leaving your booking too late will likely leave you disappointed.

Hi Worgie, by the sound of it you are as big a fan of Orlando as we all are! Its an exciting time, booking your next trip and I am sure you will have a great time choosing your perfect villa.

I am afraid that villa owners who advertise on these sites are not allowed to contact you directly to give you information on their own availability - if anyone does so you should report them to Roger or John as it is strictly against the rules.

However, don't let that put you off! If you put in a general enquiry to one of the OV sites you will be contacted by owners who have availablity. You can then ask all the questions you want when you have narrowed your choice down to a few, and villa owners will be pleased to help you in any way they can.

As has been said already, Easter is a peak time - one of the most popular of the entire year, and as such gets booked up well in advance. With new holiday dates for schools which may not include Easter itself, this peak time will be at least one month long, from mid March to mid April, so you will not save any money unless you book much earlier. It is also peak time in hotels so you would find that extremely expensive, with few facilities, so booking your villa for the full time would be far better. You may also find that many villa owners will not take less than a two week booking for this period, so you would not be able to choose one of these.

So bite the bullet, and relax for the full time in your chosen villa, you won't regret it, and you won't have to pack up early - I can guarantee the whole family would moan if you put them back in one room after the freedom and space of your villa.

Good luck in your search and have a great holiday!

Hi

I don't know anybody that just books Ssturday to Saturday!

I think that is a bit strange, as planes fly to Florida every day.

I have a friend that lives in Lanzarotte and they book ther apartment Thursday to Thursday as thats when the planes arrive.

We have to book Saturday to Saturday due to my husbands job, luckily we don't have children so are able to go out of the peak times overwise we would get slaughtered with added surcharges for flying at weekends.
