Not quite a ride, more of a dramatic experience, this is one of the newer attractions at Universal. Following on from the plot of the film Twister, it recreates what it feels like to be hit by a tournado using skilful special effects. After a pre-show based on both the film and on real tournado footage, you enter a theatre without seats ( you lean against metal bars). On the stage, there is a reconstruction of a scene which could be in any location from the US tournado belt. A tournado is seen approaching in the sky. The wind starts to blow and the rain lashes ( you get cold and wet, particularly at the front so stay back unless it is a warm day and you want to cool off.) Items of the set detach and blow away, a truck and the most unauthentic looking cow fly through the air and finally lightening hits the petrol station which blows up in a ball of fire. Excellent special effects which always attract applause from the audience. It is well worth queuing for. The gift shop does a good trade in cuddly cows a little more lifelike than the original.
