Hi, We're thinking about booking room and 15 days parking at the Hilton Gatwick and have a few questions and wondered if anybody could help.

We've found a deal for 175.00 for a family of four which includes dinner for the adults but not the children, or 165.00 with no dinner. Has anybody had the free dinner and what sort of restaurants are at the Hilton? Are they suitable for little children and would it be very expensive for the childrens meals? Also how much is the breakfast?

The next question is about the parking. The parking is offsite apparently so, do you park your car when you check in and then return to the hotel, and then pick the car up from the car park on your return or is there a different system?

What do you do about overnight things for the Hilton as presumably you have no access to your car before you fly.

Sorry about all the questions, i'm just getting slightly panicky

Thanks Helen

Helen I'm not sure about the dinner but believe it is taken in The Garden restaurant although it could be Amys - sure someone will be along to give an absolute answer.Might be worth looking at the Hiltons own site to view details of the restaurants. I know they both have a childrens menu.

Breakfast is pretty expensive - if I remember rightly it's around £15pp for a full english or they do provide a continental too. All prices will be in your room.

When you get to the hotel you can pull up in front of it and unload your bags, check in and go to your room. They will expect you to move the car within half an hour or so.

Parking is off site and one person can then drive there and catch the free bus back into the terminal or of course you can all go if you wish.

We usually keep an overnight bag with the essentials but the Hilton will have all the toiletries you need.

When we did this at Hilton Manchester, we checked into hotel with all our luggage then went over to the desk to sign the car in. That was it, we parked the car and they took it to the off site parking. Next morning there was transport to the airport (it leaves about every 5 mins).

We usually have breakfast at the airport. Bear in mind though I am talking about Manchester so it may be slightly different at Gatwick.

Thats a good deal for a family of four.

Not sure where the meal included would be, although the garden restaurant is good, we tend to have the buffet service, and kids under 10 eat free( but that might not be the offer if you have a deal with the meal)

The Hilton Gatwick have an agreement with the longterm summerparking people. Hubby usually takes the car to the park and takes the shuttle back, it runs every 3-5 mins anyway. Then on your arrival back you just go straight to the long term parking.

If you staying the night before, you could use the twilight check-in then all you need is your overnight stuff, but don't forget about the fluids as you go through security, as you will not be able to repack them in the morning if you have no checked in luggage.

I could use the breakfast, but Garfunkels is just as good as well in the airport, although it can be a little busy at times.

Helen, you are right about having no access to your car the next morning as your car would probably already be in the special car park, so you do have to make sure that you have not left anything out which cannot go through security. We always pack a special set of small toiletries which can be used on that night and in the morning and still go through security.

My husband always takes the car to the car park, quite late, and the rest of us get bathed and ready for bed and give him all the clothes etc. that we will not be taking to put in the car, so we are not left with lots of bits to pack in the morning - but don't forget, no aerosols.

When we have stayed at the Hilton the shuttle from the car park dropped you at the other terminal and you had to walk back to the Hilton from there, but its no great problem.

It is so convenient to be within walking distance of the terminal the next morning, and you certainly seem to have got a great deal. The rooms have been recently updated, so I am sure you will have a great time before your flight.

We had this deal in the Hilton Metropole in London and children eat free. They also get a free drinks holder, we went in January. Our daughter made her own pizza. The meal we had there was excellent. I am sure that it would be the same or roughly in the Hilton at Gatwick.

Hi thanks for your replies, I hadn't thought about the liquids. It's good to know these things before you go.

Thanks

Also if you are a Hilton Honors member, you may be upgraded to the fantastic executive block with access to the Executive club for free canapes/wine and breakfast in the morning.

If you are a GOLD member or Diamond, you can go directly to the executive club and check in there. They give you a voucher to hand in at the car park. Sometimes it is in the Summertime one, but often when we have used this tariff, we have been given car parking in the NCP flightline long stay just around the corner.

Dinner inclusive is the buffet dinner in The Garden Restaurant which has something for everybody

Breakfast (if not free) is about £15 a head, but you either have B&B or Dinner, B&B, so it could be included.
