Can you tell me what happens at Immigration in Sanford/Orlando Airport when you arrive off the plane and go through immigration, having obtained a visa in London? do you have to go in a separate room for an interview or do they just let you go through to get your baggage?

It depends.

You have a seperate white immigration form to fill in, sometimes if you get an experienced officer, they can type some things into their computer and admit you straight away.

Sometimes you will be sent to a little office and asked further questions.

It all depends on why you have a visa in the first place.

We have a 6 months visa a B1 B2 and we have never been interview at SANFORD OR ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL .
We get to know the immigration people and they say welcome back .
They finger print you and take photos and that is all .
Do not know with other visas .

From experiences at Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia, Boston and Orlando Immigration is well organized. It can take anywhere between 15 minutes to 1 hours to get through immigration. Double check any forms you fill out on the plane to ensure that you have left a questions unanswered. No need to worry about the photograph or the fingerprint as they are all done electronically.
