It will be my wife's birthday whilst we are in town. We are staying in Crescent Lakes and I wanted to know of good Italian restaurants within a reasonable say 20 minute drive.

Was over 3 years ago and tried Carrabas but could not get in so went to some ghastly Pizza place called Giordano's.

Thanks

The Olive Garden on the 192 has had some good reviews on these forums

I would also recommend the Olive Garden. although if you want something a bit more special, I would go to the Cheescake Factory,

We made the same mistake a few years ago - Giordano's is awful - however I would thoroughly recommend Carrabas even if you have to wait it is really worth it.

You were lucky! Try Olive Garden or Romanos Macaroni Grill. Both good food and good value...:)

Nigel,

Depending on budget, a better place to try for a special occassion is Timpano's Italian Chophouse, but it is more expensive than the other recommendations above, but we prefer it. Take a look at their website. It is nearer a 20-25 minute drive, up on Sandlake Road via either International Drive or much quicker hoping on the I4. The menu can be found on their website. Not sure if I can post the url on this site but I can email it to you if you cannot find it on google.

We have tried Olive Garden and were disappointed with the food and service after all the reviews on this site. Also the one on the 192 gets really busy. We phoned and tried to book, they said we couldn't, so we turned up and they said an hour wait, and that was off peak in February, although the area was busy due to the Daytona Nascar race.

I vote for Timpano's for an Italian birthday meal.

There is a lovely restaurant in CELEBRATION call ANTONIOS you will be able to book .
Ask for a table near the window if you want to sit inside .
We had a meal in JANUARY for my husbands birthday and it was very good so was their wine .

I'm with Maureen on this one[msnsmile]
Olive Garden and Carrabas are both excellent but for something a bit special I would go to Cafe D'Antonio at Celebration, you can make a reservation and request patio dining if you prefer eating al fresco[msntongue]

Cafe d'Antonio's at Celebration is my suggestion too! Very nice - but you do need to book.

Carrabas is another favourite - but d'Antonios is nicer for a special occasion.

As for Olive Garden - I know lots of people rave about it - we only went once. The food was nothing to write home about and they brought the bill to us before we had finished our main course!

Whatever you do - enjoy!

We tried Carrabba's this trip and Romano's Macaroni Grill on a previous trip. Preferred Romano's as there seemed to be a more comprehensive menu. But both were good food and good value.

Try the local one to Crescent Lakes that everyone raves about - La Forchetta. Run by an Italian family, it's the best. :)

I am spoilt for choice.

Current front runners are La Forchetta and Cafe D'Antonios.

Thanks to all for your contributions.

Can I reserve a table at La Forchetta?
