View Full Version : All business class airline Silverjet
Just saw one of their aircraft at Manchester so 'googled' it to find out who they are...................very interesting - I got a quote in August return £799 that's with a 6' 3' flat bed, all business class aircraft on a 767 with only 100 passengers on board[msnsmile2] If they start operating from Manchester I will be using them as that's cheaper than Virgin PE for August.

Thats almost cheaper than Virgins economy class in August, let alone PE.

Christine I compared the same dates for this August from London to New York and Virgin Economy came out at £525 and Premium was £835[msnwink]
They only fly Luton - New York. Is there any plans to increase this to Orlando!?

They have plans to extend their longhaul routes but I don't know to where yet though[msnsad]

London-New York is probabaly the most competetive longhaul commercial route there is. It's highly unlikely that they would operate on holiday routes like Orlando where there is limited demand for full premium products.
The other newcomer, EOS, has just 45 seats on a 757 and claims to offer the 'most personal space' on any commercial aircraft. Worth a look if you fly these routes.
Maxjet offer 102 seats on a 767 currently Stansted to New York, Washington & Vegas.
Also they have A sale on with £599 return.

No flat beds though and for me that's the real appeal on a red eye back from the US[msnwink]

They should get some Movie Stars to advertise their flights - Ralph Fiennes perhaps!

Robert I can't believe you said that[msnwink][msnwink][msnwink]
I think I should write a book about all the things I have seen[msnwink][msnwink][msnwink]
I agree that they would not make any money on the Orlando route as most of it is families who won't pay that sort of money for a flight ticket.

Mind you, the 30 minute check in and personal service, where they take your bags from you and bring you your boarding pass sounds wonderful.
Shame Luton is so far away for us
We've booked Maxjet for Vegas in August. just over £1000 for the two of us. PE would never be this cheap in August. Seats go down to 170 degrees - 180 is flat so not bad at all. Their reviews are very good as well.
If anyone can suggest hotels in Vegas that have great bedrooms(I know you don't spend much time in them) but NOT the Wynn, Bellagio, Signature, Mandalay or Venetian. They wanted over £1000 for 7 nights. Don't mind paying, but not that much just for a week.
Silverjet have good reviews on another forum.
Monte Carlo is nice, but ask for a room high up as there are reports about poor noise levels (see if you can get upgraded to the concierge level). Off-strip Rio is also nice.

We've stayed at the Luxor and liked it but it's not the best location being at the end of the strip.
A friend went to TI last year and thought that was very good [msnsmile]

I found this site useful when we were looking for accommodation there last year. It lists all the hotel special offers and is updated as new ones are added. http://www.vegashotelspecial.com/
Thanks, keep the suggestions coming:)

We have stayed at both the Luxor and the Excalibur and found them both first rate-book with them direct though by googling the names -the rates are really good--Aug 4th for a week in a Tower room for 2 adults is coming in at $577 at Excalibur
Found one of the first reviews.......
Silverjet flies from its own terminal at Luton to Newark. You can arrive 30 minutes before departure. The big surprise for me was there are no check-in desks. You just turn up at the private lounge. I came by train from St Pancras and took the free shuttle taxi from Luton Parkway run by the airline. Someone took my bags when we pulled up outside and I was directed straight into the lounge. Everything's brand-new, very sleek and there were plenty of snacks and drinks available. I had a glass of champagne and then someone came up and took my passport. That was it. They came back a little later with my boarding card. Security clearance was fast because we were the only flight going through - this is the big advantage of having your own terminal. Few baggage restrictions: I took an overnight bag, a briefcase and a laptop on board. Or you can check in two cases up to 30kg each. Aboard you get flat beds and you can eat when you want, not when they decide you have to eat - which I much prefer. Luton is not so good for connections but in my opinion Newark beats JFK hands-down. It's a much more pleasant airport to arrive in. I paid £999 which I think is excellent value compared to business class on other airlines. The service was as good or in many ways better.

Do they only have 1 aircraft? If so, I wonder what there back up service is if the aircraft suffers technical problems. Hopefully not an upmarket version of TCD.
No they have 2 at the moment, but that would still be a concern[msnscared]
