View Full Version : Swimming with Dolphins in the Keys.
Has anybody had any personal experience (good or bad) of the three 'swim with dolphin' facilities that are avaiable in the Keys.
I will be there in late April & really fancy some interaction with these wonderful creatures - but can't make up my mind which one to pick!
Hi Alan, we went to the Dolphin Research Centre on Grassy Key abd we did the meet the Dolphin Experience and it was wonderful.
I can highly recommend it http://www.dolphins.org/
I have done this many times and it is truly the best experience in the whole world . The trip I did was a 2 day one ( means you don't have to drive yourself ) You get picked up early from several location points ( ours was one on the 192 ) you drive to the keys, stopping off at a place where you will see Gators , snakes etc and an airboat ride. Then stay the night in Key Largo, sip cocktails as you watch the glorious sunset ! continental style breakfast , then go to do a Dolphin swin, unlike discovery cove, you have a whole half an hour in the water, with two people to two Dolphins ! absolutely wonderful. Then after lunch you are taken to Miami where you can shop or do a lake boat ride and then home to Orlando in the evening It was really brilliant. I have sent you a DM with the correct web address !

The link you posted seems to go to a Jamaican site. Did you do your swims @ Key Largo, Islamorada or Marathon (Grass Key)?
The Genie is the " the wishes " one !!
Did the Natural Swim with Dolphins in Key Largo in 2005,
The talk does go on a little but its all part of your experience. But the swim is just amazing.
Think the place was called Dolphin Plus
I am a dolphin fanatic and have swum with the dolphins at all the places in the Keys (as well as in the Bahamas and the Caribean) and in my opinion Discovery Cove was better than all of them!
I've swam with dolphins several times and always look for a good place to do so where I feel the dolphins are loved and well cared for. I've done it several times in the Keys at Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key in the Florida Keys. Overall, I think that was the best, most fun experience -- as well as the most educational. They're a non-profit place, too. We got to see lots of things -- like the research projects they're doing that show dolphins can do mathematics, etc.
