How do you spend the last day of yor holiday in Florida?

Paula D-S

Generally I spend the morning packing whilst everyone else is in the pool. After the cases are all sorted I spend the afternoon chilling out before a late flight home.......ah bliss.

We always quickly do our packing and then have a last round of mini golf at Disney as our son is a complete addict!

We then have a relax by the pool before heading off to the airport. [msnsmile]

Generally packing and chilling. Though I have been known to be loading a poorly husband into the car, after he had done the planting he had missed the previous day due to a hospital visit of course[msnwink][msnoo]

We have annual passes to Seaworld so we like to spend the last day having a leisurely stroll round Seaworld.

We do a bit of both packing, pool relaxing, and then when we are all packed head off the mall on the way to airport and get my last fix of shopping with the essential barnies coffee for back home

Very sad but we always go to Epcot on our departure date so the Kids can go to The Rose & Crown Pub for Fish & Chips or Sausage and Mash followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding. Oh and me a pint or 3 and Jane a G&T

Well, Caroline, my last day is always spent doing all the finishing touches to my villa to make our next guest's arrival even more special. I like to ensure that everything is perfect, so that when I walk out of the door and turn around for the last time I can say, 'wow!' In that way I know that my guests will walk into my villa and also say 'Wow!'

After that we like to go out on the pool deck, and just gaze at the pool, watching the rippling water as it sparkles in the sunshine - it's one of the most difficult things to leave behind, but unfortunately we cannot pack it in our suitcases.

My eyes are always drawn skyward, to that fantastic azure sky which seems to go on forever. I have always wondered why the sky seems so high in Florida, but guess it is the lack of clouds. I like to stand and feel the warm sun on my face for the last time before we return to wet and dreary Heathrow (why is it always cloudy and dull when we get home?)

Then it is time to go and say goodbye to our fantastic American neighbours, who have become like family to us. Its always hard to say farewell to them, as their warmth and hospitality is amazing.

A final look, a quick last photo, and then we are on our sad way to the airport. My son and daughter used to cry when we left, even though we knew we would be back in a few weeks time, but I have to say a sadness overwhelms us all.

Once our suitcases have gone, its the shops for me, my son and daughter, while husband relaxes with a coffee. We love the shops at Orlando International Airport, so we pass the time browsing, and spending the heap of change that we always seem to collect.

Gosh you word it well Ellie, I could almost feel the warmth on my face. Then I look out of my kitchen window here in Liverpool and see snow[msneek][msncry]

Always go to Florida Mall, have to have our last fill of Bourbon Chicken and last visit to JC Penny's, oddly enough always manage to get the most amazing last minute deals on this day.

If we are flying from Miamia we try and get packed up the night before and then head off to Antonio's at Celebration for a last meal - and in the winter months we sit outside savouring the moment knowing what the weather will be like when we get home, and in the summer we sit inside in the air-con!!

If we are going from Orlando we tend to have our meal at Antonio's the night before, and then finish up whatever we have left in the fridge and eat it on the deck, take the last pictures, and then head off to the airport.

Either way we are hoping it is not too long before we are out again.

We are always packing and shopping on the last day. The kids love having a final swim in the pool.

07-02-2007, 09:56
We always book an extra night in the villa so we can stay till the last minute[msnwink]

Pack the night before so in the morning straight to DTD to check bags in and get boarding passes, then have a walk around DTD and then over to celebration for brunch overlooking the lake.

We then may pop to the shops for anything last minute then back to the villa for a last dip in the pool for the children while I wash and dry as much bed linen and as many towels as possible - less for the cleaners to do[msnwink] I always leave folded piles of clean towels etc with a little note telling them they have be washed that day[msnwink]

Then last minute photo's, shower then head off for airport leaving the last of the towels in the washing machine[msnsmile2] Its worth paying for the extra night so we can leave it till the last minute with reason to go to the airport[clap]

Our last day is a mixture,my first priority is to ensure our home is left in prestine condition. All the jobs we have done during our visit are perfected, the extra finishing touches are in place.Take those last minute photograghs.Put the luggage in the car
Wander round from room to room trying to memorize the home we love so much until our next visit.
Time to go,say our last goodbye. Then usually last minute shopping at one of the malls, before heading off to the airport. The last day is a day of mixed emotion.I am sad to be leaving.but contented in the knowledge that most of the jobs we intented to do are completed.
The joys of villa ownerership

Used to be DTD but last few trips we've spent our last day at Celebration.

If we're flying from OIA we drop the bags off at DTD and then enjoy our last breakfast at either IHOP or Perkins [msntongue] [msntongue]
Then head off to Celebration for a walk around the shops and lakes.
Depends on how hungry we are if we go for a late lunch at the Tavern or just get ice cream and sit in a rocker soaking up the last rays of Florida sun.
Head off to the airport with more than a hint of a tear in my eye [msncry] [msncry][msnembarrased]

Packing and cleaning. I always like to clean the villa after our stay, well perhaps "like" is not the right word! Then off to the clubhouse at Southern Dunes for something to eat. Hubby and Son play golf while I do the cleaning[msnsad]

Finish packing, strip beds and tidy up.

Shopping then lunch for our final meal in Florida before heading for airport[msncry] with a heavy heart.

I chose 'something else', because like Ellie I like to leave the villa spotless. I clean and put finishing touches to the villa whilst the family relax in the pool. I always hit the shops after this for last minute retail therapy. Leaving the villa is always a sad moment for us [msncry][msnsad]

We also spend the last day stripping beds, cleaning, washing, drying etc. I know we could leave it for the MC but I just like to do it 'my' way so I know the next guests will walk into our villa thinking wow. We don't seem to get time to relax that day and it is soon time for our showers and off to the airport. I don't get sad as it is usually not more than 8/10 weeks before I will be back in our villa again.[msncool]

We are fully packed the evening before. Last day we go out for a nice breakfast and then play some mini-golf. Then head out to MCO to bring back the rental car and enjoy a meal in the foodcourt. Flight leaves late afternoon.

we like to rest before the flight home and wish we had a few more days to lay around the pool. we hate throwing out the food. Can't take home. the only thing in food is usually a few bottles of the hershey peanut butter at the Walmart grocery store on highway 27.

We pack the night before, after a special meal out with our american friends- then I am up early stripping beds and mattress covers and stuff- get that all washed, dried and aired outside so the house has that lovely outdoor freshness- love ironing those sheets and making the beds up thinking of the next guest enjoying them. Then its a last polish dust and hoover, and out by the pool with an icecream until its time for showers and leaving for the airport. I always have a tear in my eye when we leave- even if it is only weeks till I am back.
Then I pick up something extra shopping in the airport that causes moans about hauling stuff about [lol] eat a light meal, and relax in the lounge until the flight with a good book and a drink at hand.

For us it's usually either Magic Kingdom or Seaworld - Magic Kingdom because it really sums up Disney magic in a nice way before we go back home, and Seaworld because it's such a lovely park to just meander around (that said, most of the day there is spent on rides like The Kraken and The Manta![clap])

We normally drive to Fort Lauderdale the day before we fly back and have a last day soaking up the sun (hopefully). After making sure everything on our house is up to scratch we need the last day but one to chill out. Next morning we have a last sunbathe, a shower, then a leisurely drive to Miami for the flight home.[msncry]

Cant wait to go back in August - there has been so much built since we were last in Florida in 2007 [clap]
