Heres the refurb schedule for Universal Studios

• Jaws will be closed the first week of October.
• Earthquake - The Big One will be closed the second week of October until the third week of November.

due to these refurbs, can i use my flexticket to hop between parks and catch up on closed rides-will this count as one day visit?

It all depends what date are you planning on visiting the parks you should be able to use your flexi ticket at any time.

Unfortunately yes, he's been gone for some time now. :(

I wouldn't have thought Kong will return as 'The Mummy Returns'is now on that site.
Unfortunately no, he's gone to the 'great jungle in the sky' (although is probably lurking in a basement somewhere in Universal)! He was the largest animatronic in the world.
