Hi. We are a family of six, five of whom eat adult meals. As we are on a limited budget could you give us a rough idea of how much it might cost (in dollars) for an adult eating a main course and dessert in the following places? Thanks in advance!

Dennys
Perkins
TGI Fridays
Chilis
Olive Garden

We went to TGI's last year and as I remember it the main courses were around the $7-$10 mark for the basic steak and chicken dishes. Desserts I can't help you with because it wasn't very often after the meals that we had room for one - they really are that big sometimes.
Have you tried looking on the net for the different places to see if they have an on-line menu. I know one of our favourite places - Race Rock - has and we already had our first meal picked before we walked in to the place for the first time.:D

Thanks for the reply. I've looked at lots on on-line menus but most of them don't have prices. At least I know that we can go to TGI's now!:D

You'll find that most restaurants will have a menu with prices outside, so you can have a look before deciding to eat there. Dennys and Perkins won't be any more expensive than TGI's - there's also Mannys chop house which has been getting rave reviews and is apparently very reasonably priced - I haven't eaten there yet... but it's on the list of places to try

The Olive Garden prices for Beef and Pork dishes range from $14.50 to $19.75 and Chicken dishes from $10.95 to $14.50. The desserts at Olive garden range from $5.25 to $5.95 but dont forget that the portion sizes are usually pretty huge in US and I am pretty certain that you will not manage to eat a full dessert after your main meal. I would suggest maybe ordering 2 desserts to share.

Dennys and Perkins are considerably cheaper and Chilis if I remember rightly are pretty much similar to TGI prices. You can also pick up discount coupon books which often have vouchers for Perkins and Dennys etc. and children eat free at some places.

Hope this helps and I am sure you will have a fantastic time without breaking the bank too much.

Denny's and Perkins are cheaper than the rest of the ones on your list. Main courses from $6 - $9, depending on what you order and deserts are about $2.99 - $3.99 each. Denny's had a 'kids eat free' night on Tuesdays when we were there last week, if that's any help.

If you pick up a magazine outside cracker barrell there is usually lots of coupons to use in it.Mannys is realy good and they do have special nights where the faitas are 2 for one most of there meals are about $10-$15 dollars and we never manage a sweat. The Market Street cafe at celebration is worth trying the food is very good value for money a lovely place to have a walk after your meal. You could always try there ice cream parlour for your pudding.

I'd check out their websites, But can only comment on The Olive Garden as this is the only Restaurant we have been to on our last trip. We are a family of 4 and a typical bill for us including drinks was approx $70 - $80

Can recommend Carrabbas Italian Grill as an alternative restaurant excellent food at reasonable prices.

Carrabba's is very nice but could be out of the price range you are looking at. Based on last summers prices it works out to be roughly £16/$29 per head, that includes drinks and the tip.

Go to Sweet Tomatoes and everyone can fill up on good healthy food for less than $8 each at lunch time.
Delicious soups , fabulous salads, jacket potatoess pasta and garlic breads and lots of fruit and ice cream.

Denny's TGI's and Perkins would average around $15+tip and Olive garden would be averaging between $15-$23 I think

Thanks for all your replies. We were looking to spend $10-15 ($20 max) a head so we seem to have quite a few choices.:)

You can eat very cheaply at Ponderosa. There is a buffet for starters and deserts and you just pay for the main course of your choice. It certainly offers value for money for families

We have breakfast in our villa unless we are going to a park for the whole day. We have eaten in the Olive garden, Chilis and TGI last year and a meal for 4 adults and 4 kids was costing about $80-$100 (breakfast was cheaper at around $40-$60). It all goes down to how many courses you have and what you choose from the menu

The Golden Corral is also a very reasonable place to eat. This offers the all you can eat buffet type of menu and is good value and easily affordable.

If you are going to the parks don't forget to take your own packed lunch and if you are staying in a villa eating in will save you a considerable amount and can be great fun.[msnsmile2]

As already said, Mannys is fabulous. You don't say where you are staying, but it is well worth a visit. When we went last August with 2 adults and 3 children. our meals there cost between $40-60. We didn't all have desserts, and maybe just one glass of wine, but it was really good value. There is a web site, www.mannyschophouse.com I think.

I hope you have a lovely holiday[msnsmile]

Another idea is "Take-aways" or "To-Go" most of the above mentioned restaurants have a full menu for this and it will save you a few $$$$.
You could call in and pick up what you want on the way home from a park and enjoy your meal back at the villa :)

Another good family restaurant with a good buffet and good prices especially for children is Sizzlers. Think places like Carrabbas a little on the top side of your budget, there is also the Red Lobster very good food but again could be on the top side of your budget. I am sure there will be a BBQ in your villa have some meals in and then you can perhaps spend a little more on meals out.

Another vote for Carrabbas from me:D Your drinks are buy one get one free at certain times and for the quality of the food the price is very low.

Caitlin mentioned the Golden Corral. The one at 535 near the junction of I4 is good, the one at the Kissimmee end of 192 is a dirty worn out hole full of grubby and/or old people. I know that sounds harsh but its the truth. It is truly disgusting to have to sit there and watch them - and smell them. There are also a lot of local hispanic families there with the kids running riot, its that sort of area.
Its a really bad advert for GC, needs refurbishing, it used to be OK.

The best way to get good value at GC is to go in at a quarter to four during the week with a 10per cent off coupon, pay for lunch then the steak comes out on the grill at 4pm.

Kaybee,

As someone has already said, definitely go through all the free mags, you come across them everywhere. They're full of coupons which will get you at least 10% off a lot of meals. The Americans [u]always</u> use them, so don't be afraid to yourself. 10% off your meal bills could add up to a lot.[msnsmile2]

When you go to RED LOBSTER on your reciept there will be a phone number to ring and and you get a code number from them put it on your last bill and on your next visit you present your last bill at the table and you get 5 % of your total bill .
There are some restuants that do not give coupons of in the books you get around as alway full ,So this is away of getting discount the meals are very good a it is a fish place and much more .
OLIVE GARDEN is good to and look at their menu also they do cheaper childrens meals .
Have a lvely holiday .

And its even cheaper if you are of a 'certain' age, isn't it, Blott?[msnwink]... and we should know, eh?:D

Cracker Barrell offer 'homestyle' cooking if you can stand the country and western music [msnscared] and it is freshly cooked and of a good standard. Bennigans also offer meals around the $10 mark though some are better than others - we like the one at Marker 8.
