Can someone tell me a little about this community-Tuscan Ridge, "real" drive times and the surrounding area? This will be our first villa, and I am excited. We found this property and the owner offered it to us for 2 weeks for a little over $1000 WITH pool heat so I am a little scared if you know what I mean....all help will be appreciated!!

Personally, I feel it is too cheap a price. Only you can make the the judgement that matters but I do believe you get what you pay for.

Is a verified villa from this site? I know this community well and cannot understand why anyone would be renting for such a low price, as there is no need. Maybe they quoted in pounds? even so it is still cheap for august which is high season and books up easily.

No it is definately from this site and I wrote her back and she said it was in dollars not pounds....we arent going in August though, we are going Nov 25-Dec 8, 2007. So I should be scared?

Hi Lucinda. If you are a little scared already I think you yourself already know why and the last thing you need is a full-on blow-by-blow account.

It's one of life's golden rules. If it looks too good to be true ... well, you already know the next bit.

I wish there was something positive I could say to reassure you, tell you that the villa will be great, and that you'll have a fantastic time; but I hear too many stories to the contrary where bargains are concerned.

A process that many people find works well is to look for a place you like and chat to the owner to get to know them a bit. Ask them about how they run the villa, when was the last time they were there, what did they last do to it to keep it in tip-top condition, what do they have planned for it next, what did their last guests think of it, etc. When you get the right answers you will start to get that warm fuzzy feeling inside that has you so looking forward to your trip that you count down the days the days with glee, rather than with trepidation.

If you want my own personal thoughts ... vacations are just too important to take a chance on.

Hello Lucinda, I can only agree with what all the others have said and it is you who needs to be reassured that your dream vacation will be just that.
There are countless tales of people who take these bookings then by the time your holiday is due they have either sold the villa or rented out for a higher price.
It could be absolutely genuine but it seems very, very cheap and you need to ask yourself why is that?
I hope you have a great time in Florida whatever you decide to do.

Cheap deals might be OK for a very last minute booking (although I'd still be very suspicious as to the condition of the home) because at least you know that the owner probably still owns it, BUT booking this far in advance is a very big risk.

The rate that you have been offered is well below an economical rate for a rental home, regardless of how the purchasing of the home was financed. $1000 would not pay the utility bills, MC charges, cleaning charge, mortgage, insurance, license fee, property tax etc. etc. for the two weeks that you would be in the home, which means that the owner is heavily subsidising his/her home from waged income or savings. Your biggest gamble is that he/she will still be able to afford to own the home come November when you want to visit. There are many bills to be paid between now and then.[msnwink]

Maybe it is just too big a gamble with two little children?

Oh my gosh, I just have to add, the homes listed in the signatures are just awesome!!Now you all have me debating about saving for an additional year so we can stay in luxury.decisions decisions!!

As others have said - holidays are too precious to not be 100% sure you are staying in the right place for your family. I would be deeply suspicious of a villa charging so little so far in advance - in fact this rate is suspicious for late availability - I would strongly advise choosing a villa from one of the above sites - you have the re-assurance that the home is genuinely owned by the person advertising it as the site owners verify the details every 6 months.

If it was me I'd wait until I had the funds to book a really lovely home[msnsmile2]

Good luck and a Happy New Year!

I am am great believer in the sentiment you get what you pay for and maybe this applies here Lucinda it sounds mighty low rates.

It isn't me and I have a home on Tuscan Ridge and rent out at good rates.

Tuscan Ridge is split into two Communities, Countryside and The Village, two different Builders. Our Villa is on Countryside and is an Executive Villa and has a floor space of 2,954 sq feet.

Our Villa is within easy reach of I4 and 192 and is approximately 10 mins travelling time to Disney.

We wish you all the best in your search for the right Villa for you and your family to have a wonderful holiday in Orlando.

I too cannot understand why anyone on Tuscan Ridge would feel they had to rent out at that price.Don't let this put you off Katiesmomma.I also own a home on Countryside and they are beautiful villas set in larger than normal lots. All the owners I know work very hard to keep their homes in excellent condition and charge a rent that allows them to do so.We receive many compliments, from our guests, about our community.

well it WAS a mistake, the rate is Per week, not for 2 weeks, so out of my leaque[msncry]

Well that explains it then as Steve said if it sounds too good to be true it probably is!

As another owner myself on Tuscan Ridge ( Countryside)... I'm glad this fellow owner has not let the side down!![msnwink] Sorry, Katiesmommy but I too would also have been worried at the low price. As others have said, you pay for what you get. $1000 per week is still very reasonable, especially with the pool heating included.

Is this Thanksgiving week as well?

Good luck choosing:D:D:D
