We are off to Florida next month and will have friends with us who fancy going to one of the water parks. Does anyone know what the water temperature is likely to be in January/February?

The water at both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach is heated, but is warmer in the kiddie pools than the main ones.

It really depends on what sort of day it is as to whether or not it is comfortable though.

We went to Blizzard Beach twice in Feb/March 05 (TL was closed) and and Typhoon Lagoon twice in Feb/March 02 (BB was closed) and the weather was a major factor in our enjoyment/warmth.

Both days in 2002 were fine and hot and the water was lovely.
In 2005 the first time we went the weather was hot, but the big pool was a bit cool whereas the water in the kiddie area was lovely.
The second time we went the weather was sunny but only 21C with little or no humidity and quite a strong cool breeze. This meant that if you were in/under the water it was okay, but as soon as you came out of the water you felt cold straight away and needed to get dried quickly.

Its strange that 21C in the uk has us stripped off and sweltering, but its not like that in Florida due to the fact that it is usually a cold north wind that has made the temperature drop to 21C.

sometimes when the outside sun temperature is lower ie your skin is not burning hot , it makes the temp of the water more comfortable, ie not such a drastic difference when the water gets to the love handle area!![msnsmile2]

we always go in february, cheaper!!

anyway, the water is heated all the way through the park except in the lazy river which was freezing!!!

you do get used to it eventually though.....

the water through the rest of the park i though was very warm...no problem getting in!

On a related note then, are both the Disney water parks open year round? We are going
in January and just want to make sure getting the Disney pass that has the waterparks
added on is worth it.

No they close one park at a time depending on the season.
Its still worth getting the water park passes, as long as you go
a few times during your stay.:D You can then come and go as you please.[msnwink]
