Well, I'm pretty certain it's not me so whose generous other half has treated them to a new little black number for Christmas?
Noticed on tv today that Christies Auction house sold the black Givenchy dress designed for Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffanys. The expected high price was $160,000 but it sold eventually for £410,000 or $738,000 at todays exchange rate.

[msnembarrased][msnembarrased][msnembarrased][msnembarrased] nor me
Whoever it is, they'd have to be mighty thin to get into one of Audrey Hepburn's dresses! [msnsad]
well it's certainly not my dh [msnsad]
but that's an amazing price, do you know if it was a charity auction?
i've got a very similar black dress in my wardrobe and despite not being able to fit into it for the last 10 yrs [msnembarrased] i'm loathe to part with it so it's staying put, you never know the way the weight loss it going i may get to wear it again[msnwink]

Doubt it was my hubby. He thinks £100 is expensive for a dress[msnwink]

Don't think it was for charity, it was just a general film memorabilia one from what I saw.
One of the ladies from Christies was modelling it, I bet she took it off very, very carefully (and reluctantly). The paper today said it was £467K so that must have been with commission charges added on top as the hammer definitely went down at £410K. I wonder if we'll see Mrs. Beckham wearing it for Christmas?

My husband and kids are lucky....I'm not into getting gifts...but I like to buy them for others...don't think hubby would look good in a little black dress...so I never got it for him...[msnsmile2]

[laugh][laugh][laugh]Like it Chrissie! DH bought me a purple all-in-one Pregnancy jumpsuit once [sick] I took it badly, so he doesn't buy me things now, unless I say, in Little Britain fashion, " I want THAT one!" within a sensible budget I might add[msneek]
Don't know if its true but I heard a rumour that Victoria Beckham has bought it[msnwink]

Are you sure it wasn't me that started the rumour Julie (as above). I said it wouldnt surprise me but somehow if it is don't think she'll look anywhere near as elegant as Audrey Hepburn, in recent photos she looks absoultely gaunt I think.

Anyone trying to emulate Audrey Heburn not only has to have the figure (no chance here:() but also the beauty and presence to carry it off. Somehow, I don't think Victoria Beckham has that, particularly with her staged managed poses and pout - oops, am I being too katty[msnwink]
Well I wouldn't haqve bought it and I would have killed my other half for spending that on a Dress, I could have bought a lot of of other things with that sort of money!!!:D[:P] Mainly a home in Florida[msnwink]
I considered it for Mrs Tonish, but she told me she prefers diamonds, so I'm off to Aspinall's.[msnwink]
