It's my Mums 60th birthday on Saturday and my parents are coming to Germany for the week and we have lots of nice things planned. I have bought her a Dior Watch but I wanted to add something else to the pressies.
I have wracked my brains for something and would appreciate any input.
She is a really young 59, looks 10 years younger (grrrr) and quite trendy (without being like Mutton dressed as Lamb).............HELP I need ideas to make her day even more special.
Thanks[msneek]
Just make the day as lovely as possible. Perhaps start with a champagne breakfast in bed, maybe Dior perfume to go with the watch, choccies, flowers. Are there any events going on in the area that she would particularly enjoy, or nice places to visit. If giving a few gifts, stagger them throughout the day, so there are lots of little suprises going on. Have a lovely day. Chloe

Thanks Chloe, we are going to hit the Xmas market in Dusseldorf during the day, I like the idea of breakfast in bed with bubbly, I will stagger the pressies throughout the day also as that is a nice touch[clap]
Just tell her how much you love and appreciate her.

I took my mum away for a week in the sun CDV , when it was her 60th!! [msncool] I put the tickets on the end of a helleum balloon which was placed inside a box, she opened the box and the balloon floated out with the tickets on the end!! She was speechless[msnsmile2] Sadly, that was a few years ago, and it wasn't to our villa as we didn't have it then. Now, 12 years older she is unable to travel on a plane. [msnsad]

I think Chloe ideas are great just spoil her all day.I took my mum to Rome for her 70th this year with my daughter and she had a great time.I don't think you have to do too much she will appreciate spending time with you just as much as the presants.Have a great weekend.:)

You could buy a necklace or bracelet, not too heavy and wrap it around one of the chocs for her to find. Chloe
Or Dior sunglasses to go with the watch?

Crickey girls, I am going to have to go shopping again. (Luckily she has Dior glasses which I bought last year). She is not a lable junkie like me but I love the suggestions, so keep them coming please. I have a chance to wander round the duty free at Manchester tomorrow before we meet up later in the evening to fly so I will be on the hunt for little gifts to surprise her with throughout the big day. I am trying to get to Selfridges to get some nice chocs but we shall see!
How about of rose bush appropriately named -

Sounds like you have a great Mum, what about a mother/daughter photo session with a modern style photographer who will do natural style photos, then get one of the best framed for her (and one for yourself too). Maybe you could have the photo session this visit then give her the result at Christmas.

That's a good coupe of ideas Sally and Jo, off to do some research:D
Hi Jacqueline
How about a visit to a Beauty Parlour for a facial or massage when she returns from Germany so she can wind down and relax. I am over 60 - boo hoo - but I would like that sort of thing, just being pampered especially after a probably quite hectic visit knowing you!!
The other thing I enjoyed that was a gift for my 60th, was Tea for 2 at The Ritz and then she can choose when she goes as you have to book dates at least 6 weeks in advance and she can celebrate all over again!!

Sandra, funny you should mention tea at the Ritz, I was thinking about that for my 21st;) next year[msneek].
I have aready said to her that when she comes to see us in the US next year she has not to bite her nails or hack at her toenails as she is off to the nail salon with me which wil be a first for her as she is too embarassed as she was a nail biter!!!!!
More research required for local Beauty salons near her.
Thanks[clap]
