We have a Tom Tom 300 and a Garmin Street pilot C330.
Both of these have American Street maps and the Tom Tom has UK maps as well.
I have used both them in the US and both are great machines. I have to say that the Garmin maps are alot more detailed than the Tom Tom ones but having said that we have had no problems with either machines.
Sat Navs have really come down in price recently but the US maps for the units are still quite expensive.

TomTom for us - excellent unit, very reliable and extremely easy to use [msnsmile].

I use an outdoors Garmin (60CSx) for my walking but I prefer TomTom for the car.

Hi
Because we only use the US maps I bought a Navman pin which is a handheld PC so I still get lots of use from it here in the uk. I have also bought an SD wirless network card so I can check my emails easily without carrying the laptop everywhere.

Have posted a link in the Great Deals Forum for a couple of sites selling the Magellan RoadMate 800 for about £200 and it comes with unlock codes for the USA as well as having European maps. All are already pre-installed on the hard drive of the machine. We have just ordered a couple. [msnsmile2]
