Ipods charge from your computer using a usb outlet, you can buy a mains adaptor, I bought one back in the uk and it works perfectly.

You can also buy universal docking stations for Ipods so you can charge directly from the mains.

Although Ipods are slightly cheaper from the US I think you have to declare them at customs on the way home. I think there is another thread about Ipods and tax duty.

With the dollar rate so high at the moment you can purchase a 2 gb's Nano for $150 (£80) where as you will pay £100 for the same in the UK.
Think that you have declare items bought in total over £145 at customs.

I bought my Ipod Nano in the US, works brilliantly and will charge on a UK docking station or from our PC.[msnsmile2]

Are they really that much cheaper? Even with a favourable exchange rate, the effect of sales tax means that the differences aren't really that great. If you pay by a credit card you also need to factor in any currency charges levied by the card company.

I saw Ipods in the Dixons 'Tax Free' store at Mancheter airport at prices that were virtually identical to US prices. In my view, the peace of mind and warranty support is worth the little extra cost of purchasing in the UK (can't speak for Ireland though!).

It's a worldwide warranty so valid in the UK.
I paid about the same price as a 30g for a 60g when I bought mine in Florida.

It all depends on whether you declare it and pay the extras when you come back into the country which of course I couldn't advise not doing.

I bought one on our last trip and found good old Walmart in St Cloud to be $50 cheaper than the other stores!

Works perfectly here too!

I bought a Belkin Tunecast II for it as well so I can play it through my Car HiFi

That also works fine!
