View Full Version : What to do for little boys
Ideas needed. For the first time ever we wil be travelling to WDW with little boys! Now, I have bags of things for little girls to do but boys are an alien species to me!!!
One will be 2 when we are there so am looking for soemthing nice to do on his birthday. We though maybe Chef Mickeys for breakfast then into MK?
The other though will be 8 and is on the shy side. He like Star Wars and Power Rangers and things like that. But obviously won't be interested in the things the girls want to do!
Any thoughts for him. Specific rides/activites/restaurants etc would be great!
Thanks

The lego centre at downtown disney.
Any of the many adventure golf things. My son loved those when he was 7/8. There are many good ones in the kissimmee area.
Islands of Adventure is a good theme park for little boys.
My nephews loved having a disposable camera and being the official photographer for the day.
Water Parks were also a favourite when my son was around that age.

Whatever age or sex you are taking to Florida it is more a matter of what to leave out than what to do
Also, you will probably find it hard to get them to leave the pool. When you have a private pool they have so much fun without the fear of older boys bombing them
Have a great time

We have two boys, aged 5 ans 4. There is lots to do but the things my two enjoy are;
Buz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin and the indi cars at Magic Kingdom (great for both boys)
Tom Sawyers Island at MK
Cat in the Hat ride at Islands of adventure
Curious Georges playground in Universal
Something for both girls and boys is the Kids Discovery Club at Animal Kingdom. This was educational and fun.
Disney MGM was great too, they liked the stunt shows.
The list is endless but most things would appeal to girls too. Have fun!

Water Parks, PR at MGM, but at that age they love it all -mine used to likea boat that squirted water at Funspot at Belz end of 192, and the gokarts.
Out of the park -always in the pool. For a good birthday idea [which is now a tradition in our home] buy a pinata -we always get an Easter one, fill it with goodies, and to start the fun, hide Disney Dollars in those plastic Eggs around the home, - then we have a traditional Birthday style tea [jelly aswell!] and get a big cake from Publix and batter the pinata after it [2 beats each, next child -blind folded and spun round firstly]
Also the Boggy Creek Airboats would appeal -I wouldn't worry, it will be calming him down thats the problem :D

Our kids at that age loved MK. They also like the kids play area in Universal but be prepared as they will get wet.
I think that apart from the more obvious 'girl' stuff like Princesses etc..(although I'm partial to a picture with a Princess or five when I am in the parks :)) that most of it would appeal to children of any gender.
I suppose Universal is less 'girlie' as is Seaworld.
Not sure on your travel dates but as of 2007, in January, February and March, Disney are introducing a Pirate and Princess Party in a similar fashion to MVMCP and MNSSHP so if you are visiting then it may be worth trying to pick up tickets for that event.
Disney have definitely spotted a gap in the market for more 'boyish' activities and they have started to spring up. I think the boy version of 'Princess' merchandise tends to be the 'Adventurer' line.

Get a Hummer as a rental car, it appeals to little boys[msnwink]
Probably appeals to big boys a lot more though Robert [8D]
I think the 8 year old will really like Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show and Indiana Jones at MGM. My son just loved both of these. It may be a bit too much stim for the 2 year old though!
You could always take the 2 year old for his birthday into Rainforest Cafe, if you mention birthdays they always bring a cake and sing, we took our grandson there on his 2nd birthday and he just loved it. MK has everything for all ages and both sexes, but the stunt show now at MGM is fabulous for the older boy, we were there in March and our 8 year old just wanted to go and see it over and over again, they also love Star Wars. Fantasmic is a fabulous show for all ages also at MGM. really you are spoilt for choice and whether boy or girl there is something in every park for all.

I would agree about there being plenty in all the parks for both genders, if you go to a Disney park on the younger's birthday then if you ask at guest relations then he will get a birthday pin to wear that will get some nice treatment from the staff (oops, cast members). Chef Mickey's and then monorail across to MK sounds like a good plan.
I think all of the rides are rides, and when meeting the characters it is sometimes less daunting for shy boys to meet the princesses than some of the more in-your-face type characters. Test track may be quite a cool ride to do, plus all the other mentioned before.
Thanks for all your help. We are going with friends who have never been before and I want to make it extra secial for them.

It's a long time since my two were that age, but they used to love the water parks and Busch Gardens was always a favourite as well.

Our 2 boys love the Kid Zone in Universal Studios
Its next to the Barney show which they also adore.
Its a great place for them to have a run around and let of some steam
Also the Play Area at the back of the Shamu Stadium is one of their favourite places.
