:( Visited this in their Downtown Disney location - does anyone else agree that they are overhyped? First of all they have a really annoying queuing system e.g. you give your name on arrival and get called hour or two later, you then have to queue up again, finally get taken by wait staff to yet another queue location!! The food is awful - had the worst burger in USA - and the menu very limited and overpriced. This is the second visit and I for one won't be going there again. For a recommendation try Perkins - they are now a full family restaurant (no alcohol) and food is excellent and reasonably priced.
Hi
We have been there once, found it very noisy especially when the waiters shout "volcano" or something like that.[msneek]

I always find the air con a bit overkill at Rainforest.
I was shivering so much my teeth were chattering last time we were there[msnsad]

I agree with you there, Liz. When we went in August I had to ask the waiter if it would be possible to turn the temperature up a little!! The be fair, they did, or they turned off the vent that was directly above me, because it did improve slightly.
All the comments so far have echoed our experience. It was one of the most disappointing and most expensive meals we had in the US. For five of us it cost about $120.
Having said all that, the kids just loved it! The whole atmosphere, the waiters shouting "volcano!!" and the thunderstorms every 30 minutes....it was their favourite place to eat. When we next visit with the children, we will probably go again, but perhaps Paul and I will eat later[msnsad]
We tried when last in Florida and just couldn't be bothered waiting. I'm sure the restaurant will be lovely and the food great but when you have hungry kids, 1-2 hours is just to long especially after a long day at the parks.
We tried to get in this August but when they told us it was a 2.5 hour wait we told them to forget it.
We usually eat there on every visit and we have always had a good meal:)If you join the safari club then you jump the queue;)

We've not been happy with the food a few times...the staff are nice..we go before the queues start...just befor 5 in the afternoon...we've never waited to be seated yet...
Its not a place I'd go to a lot....but our Christina has every evening meal there while on holiday....
I would agree that the Rainforest Cafe is slightly overhyped, but usually we have a good meal and accept the experience for what it is. For overhyped restaurants, in our opinion, the worst offender would be Planet Hollywood.
We we went they said it would be an hours wait. We waited in the shop and they never called our name. When we queried this they said they had called our name and we'd have to wait another 30 mins. We stayed by the desk as we waited and when they did call our name we didn't recognise it -they said it was us - perhaps that was the problem. I never realised Taylor was hard to pronounce [msnmad] As others have said you then have a second queue to line up in! The food was fine but it wasn't worth the long wait.
I've eaten at the one in London and it was a much better experience than the one at Downtown Disney.
We did the one at Animal Kingdom last trip and it wasn't too bad, definitely better than the Downtown Disney one.
There are lots of restaurants that we enjoy more but the kids like it and does what 'it says on the tin', it's a rain forest..not quiet but lively as you'd probably expect a rain forest to be :)
They also call your first name as opposed to your surname so that's where people might miss being called....a little weird if you ask me
We do have a booking for the AK one this time, hopefully avoiding too much queueing, because the daughter wants a 'VOLCANOOOOOO' for her birthday after seeing them brought to other tables during the last visit.
The Valcanos don't look the same without the sparkle, but no doubt someone got hurt with one somewhere and legal action followed!!

Ummmm...I LOVE the Rainforest Cafe[msnsmile2] I go especially for the food and the atmosphere, and we have never waited longer than 10 mins[msnwink] Mind you we do tend to eat early, perhaps that is why we do not wait too long?
Our first trip to the Rainforest was great as we only waited about 20 minutes, got in straightwawy, food was lovely and served quickly and had a very nice waiter.
Our second visit, a year later, wasn't so good. We waited 1.5 hours and then queued again for 15 minutes and then a 3rd time for about 30 minutes. By then the kids (who voted to eat there) were fed up. The food wasn't too good and the waitress was useless - she got some of our orders wrong, we couldn't find her to ask for anything, and when we did she took ages. Her manager came along to apologise more than once. I will not be going back in a hurry but the kids love the atmosphere.
Hi
We went to the one at Animal Kingdom when we were there in September just, and thought it was great the food was nice and we enjoyed it.
I did think it was very cold in there i couldnt wait to get outside to get warm again, we did wait for 20 mins for a table and spent money in the shop waiting for them to call us:D. The wait for the food was about 30 mins and when your hungry that seems like an hour[msneek]. But i would go again[msnsmile2]
My teenage daughters love it but there are other places I prefer.
