Hi there

Would appreciate some advice on car hire as there are so many companies offering so many different deals/levels of service.

We arrive Orlando International late afternoon and want to hire and return a car there - need a car that will comfortably transport 3 with luggage.

Which firm to use / what requirements to look out for - someone tells me insurance/accident cover etc can be complicated and expensive??

Expert advice please!!
Many thanks

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

The best car hire we have found is the car hire advertised at the top of this page - here is the link for you to take a look at http://www.floridahire.com/

They do two levels of cover which are explained fully for you.

In my family there are 3 of us and we have hired different sized cars from intermediate to the 7 seater car and it all really depends on how much luggage you are taking with you and how much boot (trunk) space you require.

Our favourite car we have hired is the 4x4 jeep - plenty of luggage space and you sit nice and high up when you are driving along.

Have a look at the floridahire web site and you can price up the car you fancy with no obligation to book.

Why not give the link at the top of this page a twirl: http://www.floridahire.com/

They hire through Dollar and Alamo, both of which are on-site at Orlando International; their car pick-up and drop-off points are literally just across the road outside the terminal.

They also include all the insurances, loss damage waivers, etc. that are often expensive extras with other companies.

Having everything included takes all the worry out of the process and lets you spend time on what's important - having a great time on your holiday.

Most of the villa owners on this site use them personally. I don't think there is any better recommendation than that.

Hi Andrea and welcome to the forum. You will get some fantastic advice on here about anything to do with Florida or the States!!

You have to use US Car Hire - they are great. We only use these now. You can't beat the prices for what you get. We always have a very new car, never had any trouble with any we have hired, you get unlimited drivers for the Gold cover, a tank of petrol and probably other benefits which I can't think of at the moment! What car you hire really depends on what type you personally like. They have so many to offer but we have had a Durango, a 7 seater, a 12 seater, a 15 seater and a convertible in the past. All were great cars but obviously we chose the larger ones when there were 6 - 8 of us. My husband was looking at the luxury cars this time, although he now wants to hire a mustang! There are only 2 of us going, so we can get away with that although when we hired a Sebring (also convertible) there was room in the back for a couple of people but not sure how much luggage it would take - probably 2 or 3 smaller cases and not the large ones I usually take!!! I am sure you will get some good advice if you ring US Car Hire.

Have a great time when you go.

I always use this website to book our car as I know that the process will be really straightforward and I won't have to worry about being caught out for any extras when we pick the car up.
I always choose Dollar and the gold option (multiple drivers + full tank of fuel) and am never even asked for my credit card details!

Couldn't agree more about the link at the top.

We have used them twice, both Dollar and both gold option and have not had any trouble - other than queuing at the desk when we got there.
So if you have the time then register for Dollar Express and you can use a dedicated lane to speed your way through and get on your holiday faster.

Hi Andrea, Although the silver option is cheaper, if you are hiring the car for less than 3 weeks, it will probably work out cheaper to use the gold option as the car hire companies charge a premium for the fuel they supply on the silver option. There will then be no other charges. The price you see on US car hire are fully inclusive of everything...great service

I think the above threads have just about covered everything apart from Dollar Express - The Fast Pass System to colect your car at the airport.
