View Full Version : If you could only choose one...
If there is one single restaurant you cannot afford to miss when in Orlando, which one would you choose and why?
I'm preparing our itinerary and we are planning on choosing some new places as well as our old favourites, so which one is it you dream of eating at when you are back home in the UK?[msnwink]

Fultons Crab House[msntongue]
Hi,
If I was answering on behalf of all the people who normally holiday with us (4 adults & 4 children), it would have to be TGI Friday's. I know we have them over in the UK, but the Jack Daniels sauce in Florida is just fantastic !! and although they did have it at the Cheshire Oaks restaurant recently, it just wasn't the same. (perhaps it was the sunshine that was missing that day)
I also really like Olive Garden [clap]
now, now Lisa that's cheatin you can only choose one[msnwink]
Mizzy
You beat me to it Mizzy![msnwink]
I have to agree that TGI's UK does not even nearly compare with the states!
We love Olive Garden, and ate there at least 4 times last year.
Not tried Fulton's yet[msnwink]

For me it would have to be Vila de Flora at the Gaylord Palms. We always go there when we're in Orlando and it always gets a great reaction from the people we take with us. We also try to schedule in a trip to Boma each time aswell. I love both restaurants and would hate to have to choose between them but DH prefers Vila de Flora so if it had to be just one!
In fact I've just rung and booked both restaurants for our October trip. We're taking both my family and DH's family so quite a group of us.

I have to split it up:
regular price - chevys texmex
deeper pocket - probably primo

We enjoyed Houlihans this time - first time we had been and will definitely go back.
Manny's for me, my mouth is watering thinking about it.

As a family vote it would have to be Manny's [msnsmile2]
Regular price: Longhorn
Expensive: Texas da Brasil (I hope it is spelt this way!)
Hard call, but we say villa de flora. Not expensive at all and loads for everyone to choose what they like.

If I have to though think it would have to be The Cheesecake Factory - but it's a very tough decision [msneek]
Without doubt, the California Grill at Disney contemporary resort. I'm counting down the days until I can make anothetr booking for next year. What a great overall experience.
We drive all the way to downtown Orlando just to got to Houstons for their "knife and fork ribs" Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Chillis for us the chocolate dessert is scrummy
There are a couple of Olive Gardens in Orlando. One on I Drive and one off the 192.
:DI knew people would struggle to choose only one[msnwink]
I think it just goes to show the quality of the food available there [msntongue] Pity you don't have the same quality and level of service at home.[msnsad] Don't get me wrong there are some nice restaurants at home but I don't think we have the same quality for the same value.

My mouth is watering - going in october and shall have to make a note of all that you have mentioned. Trouble is, where are they all? No doubt there will be info in the villa I guess. Cheesecake factory was a favourite for us but whereever I go I have to leave half on the plate - always such big portions. Can hardly wait.

We love the Cheesecake Factory too - the menu is quite innovative and they have some great healthier options as well. They sound healthier anyway!!!
You'll find one at the Mall at Milennia. The Chinese next door looks very nice as well. Has anyone ever eaten in there?

Hi, can anyone tell me more about Texas de Brazil please? I googled it as it is not one that we had heard of. I see it is on international drive but wondered whereabouts. Also would you take children here and what sort of dishes do they do? I am busy planning our dining for over Christmas so any info gratefully recieved.
cheers
Heidi
I would have to say Carrabbas would be the one restaurant not to miss and I would choose their Sirloin Marsala with garlic mashed potatoes.[msnsmile2] They also do a lovely spicy sausage and lentil soup as one of their soups of the day occasionaly which is gorgeous as well but very filling.
Karen
It is on International Drive near what used to Beltz. It is a Brazilian restaurant fairly 'posh'. There is a fantastic salad bar that you help yourself to then the 'Gouchos' come round with all sorts of yummy meats on skewers. Fillet steak, a couple of other cuts of steaks, pork, chicken, lamb and spicy brazilian sausage. You have disks one side green the other red - if you want more meat you place the disk green side up, if you want a rest, red side up. This is all served with mashed potatoes and banana fritter type things. I don;t think I have spoken to anybody who hasn't enjoyed it. Also if you register on their web site just before you intend to go they send you a discount voucher of about 25% I think to use but don't register to early as there is a time limit on it.

OUTBACK STEAK HOUSE.
Mouth watering just typing in the name, mushrooms or bloomin onion as a starter (to share, not so greedy) followed by an Outback special middle cut sirlion, medium, baked potato with sour cream and a ceasar salad.
Always my first meal and my last when on holiday in Florida, roll on November.

We went to Houlihan's for the first time on our recent visit ( back today and shattered ) The food was very good. The salmon was wonderful and so was the steak in red wine sauce.
My 3 favorites are now Manny's, Houlihans's and Texas in Brazil.
If I had to choose one. I don't think I can, they are all sooooooooo good

Diane and Paul,
If you can get onto the I4 heading towards Tampa, then take Hwy27 south towards Haines City. After about 4 (?) miles you will pass a Walmart on your left, go straight through the lights and through the next set of light, Mannys is on your right (probably about half a mile or less from Walmart).
Hope this helps!
OOOOOOOO Manny's Chop House. Our Favorite
