We are headed to Rotonda West for a short stay this weekend. We will be visiting Boca Grande, and Myaaka River State Park. The Gulf Coast and especially Rotonda West is one of our favorite places. We cant wait!![msncool]

Thanks Clare- we have been told the canals are very high and alligators have come up onto the banks. Guess we will stay in the screened areas. Our teenage daughters and my niece are so excited as we are too! Thankfully Ernesto will be moved out of Florida by the time we arrive.

Do take the boat ride at Myaaka River State Park and do not forget to get your second boat ride discount ticket.

Oh I wish it was me - got to wait until mid October before I get going to Florida again and I can hardly wait !!!!!!! Rotunda is simply the best and we just loved our stay there 2 years ago. I remember sitting by the pool watching the sun come up and watching the gators lazily gliding by in the river at the bottom of the garden - the brightly coloured birds that whizzed by, collecting sea shells, the turtles at Boca Grande beach - simply the sheer serenity of the place - so different to the Orlando experience - what I call the real Florida. Have a super time

Back from Rotonda...Had a great weekend - although our trip was too short! Saw the alligator in the canal- had dinner at South Beach and a beer for you Andrew! Cant wait to go back!
