Has anyone been here? How far is from Kissimmee and is it worth the journey?

Thanks for any info.

I have been a couple of times.

It's about 28 miles from junction 55 of I4/H27.

There is a vey impressive, historic tower which houses the carillon bells. There are also gardens to walk around. Really only takes a couple of hours to do and you have to time it right if you want to hear the bells.

We visited Bok Sanctuary in March this year. I cannot remember how long it took us to drive but it was certainly less than an hour. We had a lovely afternoon, very relaxing, we were there for about 3 hours. The carillon tower is beautiful, we sat outside and listened to a carillon recital. The gardens are lovely, they also have a 3/4 mile preserve trail and at 298 feet above sea level this is the highest point in Florida, we could see for miles. This is a photo of the tower which we took on our visit

If you want a place to stop and have lunch on the way, we can recommend the Lavendar 'n Lace Tea Room. It is situated in Lake Alfred, just off US27 on the way to Bok Sanctuary. It's very quaint and as the name suggests, is all decorated in lavendar with lace tablecoths. The food is very much home cooking and they have a gift shop attached to the restaurant.

Sounds like a good idea, followed by a nice stroll round the gardens to work it off!
