.....is the time saved in the kitchen;everyone has lost their appetite
No one wants a hot dinner;cold chicken and salad does very nicely.Even tea and coffee making are reduced....a long cold drink fits the bill
It is a wonder that people from hot countries are not all skinny!
Have to agree with you there Heather. My lot will have to wait for it to cool tonight before I can even think about gettin tea ready [8D]
I think my lot have gone mad ( must be the heat) I've had a request for chilli. Like that's going to happen!

Yes but if Leisa was in Florida she would be on holiday and would have lovely air-con in the villa to keep her nice and cool at night. It's weather like this I really miss our air-con!!

I lay sweating in the garden yesterday and said to my husband " I wish we had a swimming pool", I then rephrased it " I wish we had a swimming pool that wasn't 4000 miles away".
[msnwink][msneek]
The heat wouldn't bother me in Florida[msncool]
Lovely breeze blowing through the house now[msnsmile]

I just went out to buy another pool, that will probably only last a year. We go to Florida in two weeks, but couldn't resist, we only seem to have the sun for a short time. And it will put the kids in the mood.
But I must admit, We tend to have salad all year round, anyway, and I prefer to drink Tea and coffee, supplemented with water, as this is what I do in Florida.
I always have a couple of cups in the parks, I find the coffee satisfies my thirst more. Maybe I'm just weird[msnwink]

I just love the heat. Hubby uses the BBQ in good weather so even less cooking!!
How hot is it back home then?
You just have to be prepared. You can make a meal in the morning, stick it in the fridge, and then zap it in the microwave, so not sticking an oven on. Also if you have one of those George Forman grills you can make lovely kebabs in them! Stir frys are ideal, as just quick flash cooking, and pasta is quick and easy, and also yummy cold!
Otherwise go outside and cook on the barbie, with a lovely cool beer or glass of wine and enjoy the garden!

Days like today I wonder why I have a pool and aircon 4000 miles away when the house I live in for 48 weeks of the year doesn't!

Too hot for me[msnmad]
Love it in Florida when there is a nice swimming pool to dip into, everywhere with air conditioning and the only thing I need to think about food is 'where are we going to eat tonight'.

I love this weather - in this country and elsewhere.
But I can't do the big 'Sunday Dinner' thing when it gets anywhere above 20 degrees. I could live on french sticks crammed with salad or a BBQ.
This time of the year is also good for us shift workers - because it means that it is daylight when we get up for the night and morning shifts - makes us feel a bit more human.

I have AC where I live in the USA...but unlike in my FL home I can't afford to put it on..its hotter and more humid here too..but I only use the AC around an hour a day if the house feels very wet...

Things I've learnt about keeping a house cool..if its humid outside don't open the windows..and keep the shades down..letting wet air into your home just makes you feel hotter...I used to open the windows all the time all over my house...but its tons cooler in some cases to keep them closed...unless you have a nice breeze that is..we cook outside..but sometimes cooking something on low in the oven can stop your home feeling humid..
You really don't need AC..an humidifier with an outside vent can work just as well for a quarter of the cost of running AC..and can be got in England..small ones in each room being better than one large one...

Chrizzy,I had a Persian neighbour whi did just that! I got some blackout blinds from Florida for my south facing kitchen which helps
I have just had a call from North London and there is a terrific storm happening there;we shall all be moaning when it goes back to normal!

I'm sitting in my office were I've closed off the AC and have the windows and doors open...its about 15 degrees hotter than the main house which has the windows closed fans on and shades down...its like walking into AC but thats not been on since 10 last night...then I don't use it to cool just to remove the wet...

The hotter and sunnier the better for me [8D]
I have just come back from two days in London....I'm sorry for those of you that live there but I can't stand it, and the heat made it even worse!!
We were at Wimbledon yesterday, and they kept putting health warnings up on the big screens about drinking plenty of water. It was so hot, pimms went down better than water!
The journey back to my friends house on the underground last night was just horrendous, I am so glad to be back in sunny, slightly cooler devon!!!

I love this hot weather. Drink lots of fruit smoothies to keep you cool and eat lots of salad. Fantastic. We haven't got a hot tub at either of our villas but we do have one in the garden at home, not that its switched on at the moment, so it's great for cooling off in.[msnsmile2]

Could you all send some of that hot weather up to Scotland or the east coast of Scotland anyway. Sunday was like monsoon weather, Monday started the same then went drizzly with mist, today mist.[msncry] No wonder I want to be in Florida all year round.

This morning the temperature is still 70 and has been raining since 7am. Yesterday here on the south coast the temperature reached 84. We went for two swims in the sea, very refreshing.

Was woken at 6.45 by a tremendous thunderstorm, which was good as I had left the 3 velux windows open [msnembarrased]. Still raining now on and off and boy do we need it in the south east, but as I am going away in two weeks, I would like it to hold off till then :D

Shirley,I am just waiting for Thames Water to say it is the wrong kind of rain and will not help the situation
We should not have let the utilities go out of British hands;it is scandalous!

Big thanks to whoever sent Scotland some hot weather today. Much happier now [msnsmile2]and hope it continues over the weekend.

This weather's is no good for me. I have an abnormal heart rate and extremely low blood pressure. I made a complete and utter fool of myself passing out in my son's school on Tuesday.[msnembarrased][msnembarrased][msnembarrased][msnembarrased][msnembarrased][msnembarrased]
