Hi!
We are visiting Florida again this year (July/August) and fancied spending a couple of days on the coast as a break from Orlando. Can anyone recommend a location with a good mix of beach and shops/restaurants? There are 4 adults and 2 teenagers in our party and this would be our first visit to the coast. Thanks.

Can highly recommend Longboat Key, Sarasota on the Gulf Coast

Stayed there in 2003 for a week. Paradise

We are looking to go back again for a couple of nights while over in Orlando this year.

Some fab restaurants and shops and the beaches are to die for especially Siesta Beach

You beat me to it Jane & Fraser, I was just going to recommend Longboat Key, Sarasota. We stayed there last year just for a few days and had a fabulous time. There are some lovely shops there and a great choice of restaurants, in walking distance of the beach too!! [msnsmile2]

I recommend Rotonda- near Englewood & Port Charlotte. Close to best beaches in Florida great shopping. Love Boca Grande for day trip.

We love the Venice area, only thing you have to do is hide the credit card. Great restaurants.
