Dear all,

Can anyone tell me whether the clothing for ladies and children are noticeably cheaper in Orlando and whether they have the same fashion/quality as in the uk? I thought that we could maybe find some nice things to bring back. Has anyone got any shops/shopping outlets that they recommend and does anyone know of any places to pick up the real bargains?

Also I read somewhere that there is a Disney shop outside of Disney where things are much cheaper. Does anyone know where this is?

Last but not least my husband is 6 foot 6 and has great difficulty in finding clothes that fit. Does anyone know the best places to look for that type of clothing?

Thank you again for all your help.

Mark and Tracy.

HI MArk and Tracy, you can try Walmart, Target, Florida Mall, The Loop. There are just so many clothing shops all offering bargain prices and name brands you will go crazy just trying to keep your wallet in your pocket. My son is also 6.3 and have no problems finding him clothes or shoes! Happy shopping

The clothes are often quite a lot cheaper especially when there are sales.
There is a Disney shop at the Premium Outlets near Dixie Stampede where you can get some items a lot less.
The other clothes stores there often have good bargains as well.

I have had a lot of good buys at The Orlando Fashion Square mall which is just off Colonial Drive and of course many people like Forida Mall at the junction of OBT and Sand Lake Road.

Shopping around can be lots of fun and there are plenty of bargains to be found.

The 6' 6" husband could be sorted for casual apparel at Foot Locker who always stock the taller/larger sizes. My theory is because they cater for the basketball players. But there is also a specialist chain for taller people and I must be having a senior moment because the name evades me just now. I will get back to you when i think of it.

Happy Shopping [msnsmile2]

Hi Mark and Tracy,

The Florida Mall and the Mall at Millenia are both great for clothes shopping. The Mall at Millenia has some of the more expensive shops like Burberry, Dior, Gucci, Chanel and Louis Vuitton where as the Florida Mall has, amongst others, some great department stores such as Macys, Saks, Sears and JC Penny.

We also like the Premium Outlets, which is by Dolly Partons Dixie stampede, we just love the Puma and Skechers shops there and always come home with far too many trainers !!!!

There are also plenty of luggage shops round, so if you find that you doo buy too much you can always get another suitcase to bring it all back home !!

A subject dear to my heart as i am 6ft3 and 17st shopping in Orlando is fantastic. One of the best places for real bargains is the Lake Buena Vista Outlets as this has one of my favourite stores the VF outlet this store has both male and female sections and everthing is 50% off the lowest ticketed price. Major brands like Lee and Wrangler and jansport are stocked. There is also a Gap store and an Old Navy also the Big Dog T shirt store is worth a look.

Also with the exchange rate so much in our favour its worth looking at the big department stores at the malls as they also have great sales (Macys have a discount card for visitors that gives an additional 11% off)

Florida Mall and Premium Outlets are my firm favourites.
I know you have young daughters so you will love shopping at Little Me in the premium outlets for them. The Timberland and Nike stores are my husbands favourites.

We find the Premium Outlets one of the better places to shop for clothes, however they are presently doing up the Belz outlet and renamed it Prime.
We have found that what you pay in dollars in Florida, you would pay the same amount in pounds back home in the UK, so with the current exchange rate it is almost half price.

We love Limited Too in Florida Mall as my daughter can always get stuff to fit there. Being skinny/wide/tall/short is not a problem in the US they do far more sizes and it is the same in shoes too. Width fittings are more common than at home

Shopping is my middle name when in Florida, I love clothes shopping in Orlando
Designer clothes are much cheaper, I hardly buy any clothes in the UK.
I wait until I am in Orlando then have a field day, at the moment their are bargains everywhere

Try Ross and Bell's ( sign looks like BeAlls) for real bargains. Some designer items at knock down prices plus Ross do a special "over fifties discount" of extra 10% on a Tuesday - Bell's
is on a Monday (I think!)

Got a really nice Kenneth Cole coat in Ross last year (label price RRP $189)for $29 - less the Tuesday 10% -- amazing value! [msnsmile2]

Bell's have an "outlet discount store" in the Osceola Mall on the 192 next to their normal store, packed with end of line bargains. Everything is 70% off. Quality mens short sleeve shirts for around $10 !

Also try the Burlington Coat Factory on the Orange Blossom Trail near the Florida Mall.

I keep threatening to go there in what I'm wearing and stock up over there on holiday clothes!! :D

We re stock all our kids and our clothes every time we go over. The prices are sooooo cheap compared with the rip off prices here.

Premium Outlets are our favorite.

Florida Mall and Premium Outlet for me too. I could spend all day in the Florida Mall - I love it! Premium Outlet is so easy to shop as you walk round it in a square and come back to the same place with a small food court in the middle. You can't get lost or lose the kids:D

Mizzy - when you said it was like TKMax was it because the place was crammed full of racks of clothes? If so if it was a large store it would have been Ross and a much smaller store it would have been Beals Outlet.

Ross (a must for serious shoppers) are at Osceola Mall on 192, The Loop cnr Osceola parkway and John Young Parkway, new outlet centre cnr Orange Blossom Trail and Sandlake Road, also at International Drive Outlet (look out for Beds Bath and Beyond)

Ross is my favourite store so I try to go to each one, the first and last ones listed above are older stores and more cramped. If it's your first visit try the Loop or OBT first.

Beals Outlet are at Marker 13 on the 192, this year they have introduced a new discount day on Fridays for people 49 and under. 50 and over's discount day is still Monday. They also have clearance racks with discounts of 20 - 95%, last visit I managed to find a t shirt reduced by 95%, also got my 15% Monday Club Discount and finally paid 20c with tax. My sister found a lot of clothes for her youngest grandchild and really good value.
They also have another store in Oak Ridge Mall further down 192 and I have seen others on OBT and in Haines City (worth a visit if you want to see how Kissimmee used to be before tourism)

There are a few Disney outlet stores that sell last year's park merchandise at a discount - there's one at Belz Mall (my favorite) and also there's one at Lake Buena Vista Outlets.

Don't forget to budget for the extra suitcase you 'll need for coming home. Or you can put a smaller packed one inside a large empty one on the way out!!

Could you all please stop encouraging my wife to spend our money and, more importantly, drag me a around the shops.

Ah but you say that what until you get to Orlando Premium Outlets where the Nike and Timberland store are fantastic.
My husband hates shopping in the UK, he says it makes him feel faint[msneek] but he really doesn't mind in Florida

Mine's the same Paula. Premium Outlet is reasonably small and relaxing. Geoff normally sits out in the sun by the food court whilst we girls shop. You'll enjoy that one Mark. Geoff doesn't buy a lot of clothes when we are over, but always comes back with trainers! Quite a few places where you get the second pair for half the price too.

We have just returned from Florida and did a fair bit of shopping. We do like Premium outlets as its well spaced out and all the big names are on one site, however we found that prices do vary so it maybe worth your while shopping around.
We bought some Addidas Swim shorts from the Premium Addidas Shop for $7.5 each and they wanted $17.99 at the Addidas shop at the Prime outlet. Likewise Tommy Jeans were prices at $34.99 at Premium but managed to get the same Jeans at the Prime outlet for $10.99. Timberland has similar differances in prices.

I bought some lovely quality and good value kids clothes from Sears in the Florida Mall. This included Reebok top and short sets for about $15.00 for my 11 year old.

Also got some good deals in World of Denim, Walmart and Disney outlet stores.
