We're going back to Orlando in August. Have previously done O'Hana's at the Polynesian, and Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. Can anyone recommend a resort restaurant for us to try this time? We have a 7 and a 2-year old who will eat anything (thank God!). It doesn't have to be a character meal particularly. Thanks.

we really enjoyed a character breakfast in the grand floridian with alice and friends and mary poppins, lots of choice and a good quality superior breakfast buffet

(our kids ages 10,10,8,6)

we also enjoyed a meal in the restaurant upstairs in the castle, dont know what the place was called but they did a nice steak[msntongue]

and we would also recommend a fantasmic dinner package at mama melroses in mgm studios

Boma at Animal Kingdom gets great reviews on the forum, there are a few write ups about it.

THe restaurants at the Wilderness lodge are good - if you have boys they will like the cowboy style one, or the Atlantic point is lovely.

The Grand Floridian character buffet 1900 Park Fare would be good with kids, and I would agree on Boma.

Again recommend the breakfast buffet at 1900 fare, Grand Floridian and Boma Restaurant, the food is very much diverse and american, will please anyone taste. The waiting time to eat in Boma is very large, it would be best to make a priority reservation first, if you walk in it could very well be an hour or so. The one time we went they said they were no longer taking walk in.

The one other recommendation of Disney restaurant I would make is not in the resorts but in Epcot, Is the Garden Grill. It is a character dining. and a rotating restaurant.

Citricos at the Grand Floridian and the California Grill in the Contemporary - you get a fantastic view of the fireworks at MK from the viewing platform outside the Californa Grill, they also dim the lights in the restaurant and pipe in the music - the food is fab and the service has always been great too.

Grand Floridian breakfast fare was still the best meal ever for me:D One we didn't rate was the character breakfast at the Wilderness lodge, very disappointing, characters were great, atmosphere was good but compared to the Grand Floridian breakfast, not a patch!

I agree with the others that have mentioned Boma in Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had breakfast there back in December and it was fabulous. They have an excellent choice of food and lovely surroundings. After breakfast we wandered around the hotel grounds and saw most of the animals, it was really great. I would recommend that you ring up and make a priority reservation as it is a very popular restaurant. Another good restaurant to visit is either of the Rainforest Cafe's, I know they are not in a resort as such but if you are visiting Animal Kingdom it is a nice way to round off your day or you could incorporate it into a trip to Downtown Disney. I'm sure your children would enjoy the experience! Wherever you end up I hope you have a great time.

Boma is very good; great food, great location. It would also give you the opportunity to wander around AKL which is one of the most serene places in Disney.

Chef Mickeys breakfast is a good character meal. One tip is to book one of the last spots for breakfast and use it as a kind of early lunch. This way you can get in MK early, do some rides/shows and then have a break approx 11am before hitting the park again in the afternoon.

Others that are in parks and not hotel resorts that you might want to try:

The Princess breakfast in the castle is nice with great characters and it is 'the castle'.

The Crystal Palace buffet with Pooh and friends is one of the best quality buffets and of course characters.

MGM Sci-Fi Diner is a nice quirky place to eat being themed like a 50s drive in cinema, standard fare but great theming.

And for a totally different experience you have to try Prime Time in MGM for one of the most unique dining experiences you will encounter.

Loads more to try, so making my list for December :-)

We have booked the Princess Party at 1900 Park Fare restuarant which is in the Grand Floridian Hotel. We are doing dinner which works out at $29 for adults and $13 for kids.

We also did the Character Dinner in Epcot at the land. The restaurant actaully spins round slowly. food was good and is wasnt busy.

We can thoroughly recommend the Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. Great food and entertainment aimed at adults and children. We laughed all the way through our meal.
