i dont know if this is a newish law but whilst we were just out, i saw a couple of times about a new rule that the police were imposing.

if you see a police car or other vehicle at the side of the road with its lights flashing, then you gotta slow down 20 mph and change lane. presumeably away from the vehicle!!

this is a law aimed at reducing the number of deaths and injuries for emergency crews at the roadside.

at present cops are actually also just sitting at the roadside other than at a wreck or somethintg with their lights flashing to make sure drivers observe the rule. if you dont, and get caught its a fine and 3 points on your licence[msnsmile2]

Good tip, Trev - thanks.
I'm sure most visitors have no idea about this.

Its been law in Canada or parts of it for years... there are speed cameras in the US...camera's are in a lot of places but unlike in England you don't see them that often because they are hidden...and you don't always get a notice to tell you they are there...I never knew they had them in the supermarkets and the carparks...I needed to have them pointed out to me....

dont forget the birds in the sky too. i remember back in 88 (last century!)being warned about aircraft spotting speeders.
whilst we were out i saw on the news that a spotter plane had crashed landed so they still must use the odd one. dont know if its actually for speeding or not

Last night I watched a report on CNN about emergency vehicles and the amount of accidents that have occured. Can see why this law was bought in, one officer was guiding a driver away from her car whilst explaining why they needed to do so. Next thing the car was rear ended[:O]
